The Raven Adventures

Take me across the Canyons and Mountians...To the Place where you dwell...To The Raven. Where Paths Cross

The night was cold and dark, there was an eerie feeling in night sky, as if a feeling that had been lost and forbidden for a long time was finally coming home. As he approached the door, he wondered to himself if it would be the same as it use to be. This place had once been home, there were alot of memories in this little tavern in the middle of nowhere, Nepal. But alot has changed over the past; he had changed, have things inside changed to? Would there still be the fun times? Any more Parties and Adventures? He asked himself these questions as he made his way towards the rickety old Bar.

Through the ice-covered windows he could see the familiar warmth of a great group of people silhouetted against the backdrop of a pleasant fire. He could he the sounds of conversations and laughing, as the drunken patrons enjoyed the evening as they always had. He stopped at the door, pondering whither or not he should turn back; but after a moment of hesitation, he ultimately come to the conclusion that he had gone too far to pull back. And with that, 00Kevin slowly pulled the door open, wondering what he would see...

(*If any of you are new to this, let me explain, the Raven Adventures are our Indy-inspired RPG which takes place in Marion?s Bar, the Raven, Nepal, late 1930s, as seen in Raiders of the Lost Ark. We drink, we party, we adventure, we get attacked by random Nazi assassins, and the bar seems to get burned down every night. I use to have these adventures with fellow raveners and we had a really good time, so I wanted to see if it can still catch on. You are all welcome to join! oh, and I promise not to make really really long posts this time ;) *)

I'm not going to use my username if that's all right...

In "The Raven", Phoenix Poinsettia sat silently by the stain glass window, drinking apple cider. She couldn't drink tonight. And it wasn't just because of the medicene she was taking to heal her eye, an infection from the bitter cold. This wasn't her first visit to "The Raven." She had always come by often, but never had much to do with anyone. These were dangerous times. Especially knowing the owner's history. A lone figure emerged from the door, snow flying in, wind howling. She watched the figure, a man of adventure, he seemed, turn his head this way and that, as if searching for someone or something. He then, proceded to the bar to order a drink.

She recognised him vaguely. She also knew that he hadn't come often in recent times. She had always been in the background, watching and waiting all this time. It was, afterall only a matter of time....

Indiana Jones And The Hardcore Raven.

Indy pushed open the door, snow swirling around his forlorn fedora. The ice was burning his face and he longed for a glass of the hard stuff. Tonight he was going to tell Marion that he had thought about her offer of shares in The Raven. Tonight she would get the 'yes' she had been waiting for. Indy longed for the days when they could open the bar and enjoy long days and nights of gently entertaining the regulars.
Someone pushed past Indy, rudely. "Watch where your going, mate!" the man spat. Indy watched him stumble away into the blizzard. Loud thumping music was eminating from inside the Raven, ear burstingly loud bass. Indy entered and was greeted by hundreds of people wildy dancing with eyes wide and perspiration dripping down their vacant faces. Indy was taken aback. 'What the hell...' he mused.
"Marion?!!!" he yelled at the top of his voice. Marion pushed toward him from the crowd. " Indy, baby. Chill out, man...here have one of these..." Marion offered him a pill of some sort. Indy looked at it and could see the inscription of a smiley face. "Ancient Sanskrit?" he shouted, confusedly.
Marion shook her head. " No! It's an trip. Take it! Chill, man!" "What the hell's goin' on here, Marion?" Indy blurted.
" Well, business was slow! I had to do something to boost the profits! Tonight is Raven Ravin' night! It's wicked, man!"
Indy observed the mass of bouncing dancers and shook his head..."Oh, screw it." he muttered, " You only live once..." He grabbed Marion's arm and pulled her to the dancefloor. Within minutes, he was dripping in sweat and high as a kite.

THE END.

after a brief and magical dream sequence, 00Kevin's focus began to return with the sound of a farmiliar voice...

"Kevin... hey Kevin" He rose his head to see the face of Marion Ravenwood, along time friend and bartender. "someone looks happy to be here" she said as she usually would with a certain degree of cockyness, "You want something to drink?"

"ummm, I'm not really up for anything strong, mabey just a Pepsi?"

"Ok, but I must warn you," Marion cautioned, "they arn't very cold."

"that's ok, I don't mind" 00Kevin got his drink and then walked to the middle of the bar, preparing to make a decision of whom to associate with this evening. The bar wasn't terribly crowded, only a few faces, some new some old, vacated the mountain-top cantine. he stopped as he noticed a somewhat unfarmiliar face over by the window. curiously he wandered over towards Pheonix to introduce himself. "Hi, I'm 00Kevin, mind if I sit down?"

Phoenix turned away from the window, to face the man who introduced himself as 00Kevin. Perhaps some company tonight wouldn't be so bad, she thought.

"Sure, sit. I'm Phoenix Poinsettia. Yes, that's Phoenix as in mythical firebird and Poinsettia as in Poinsettia Stone, though no relation," she replied.

"But isn't Poinsettia as in the Christmas flower?" joked 00Kevin.

"Yeah, I suppose it is. They're spelt the same. And what do you do for living, 00Kevin? The Raven is a place of rather peculiar people."

"I work for the British Government, sort of a world policeman if you would" he said, casually taking a sip of his drink. "I use to help marion out here too, but lately I've been out conquering the world. So what do you do miss Poinsettia? and what brings you to the raven?"

I was hanging around in the forum and I simply noticed this thread once again. I did saw it in the past, but this time I'm just feeling sad because I think I cannot contribute to it... even if I would like to. :(

I've always loved writing stories, and this idea of "The Raven Adventures" sounds really intriguing to me. But...

I wish I could have much free time, and most of all... I wish I could write decent english. :(

Sorry if I ruined the atmosphere... :(

Suddenly I was awakened by a beast of a man...
"What the hell do you mean 'ruining the atmosphere'?" My only reply to this rotarian was "What do you mean, 'what do you mean ruining the atmosphere'?"

"You were muttering something about ruining the atmosphere and electric snakes and al gore was right and giant bats and started speaking in tounges."

"**** off man!" I mumbled.
Clearly the mescaline had taken a toll and I found myself starring up at some hairy bastard from the floor of some bar. I picked myself up and stumbled over to the bar where I spotted a very attractive young drunkard of a girl.
"Where are we?"
"The Raven."
"Why is it white outside."
"You're in nepal buddy."
"Jesus god!"

Suddenly another attractive young female came up to me. I thought to myself "All right Dr. Gonzo, dont **** this one up!"
I smiled at her and tried to introduce myself, but I studered and stumbled on my sluurry speech that sounded more like banshee cries than a flirtatious greeting. She smiled.
"Sorry" I said, "Im Dr. Gonzo... and you are?"

"I'm the bouncer," Finn replied, looking down at Gonzo who was trying to focus his gaze somewhere down at the level of his chest. "And I think you've had enough to drink."

...AL. walks in and scans the room. Observing all the rugged and weather-beaten faces. He stands tall and makes his way to the bar.

some rocks crumble, and out from the shadows coughing comes Reuben, a young would-be treasure hunter, his hands are aloft.

"don't shoot! I was looking around here and I decided to hide when I heard voices"

He stands just under 6ft with a scruffy black jumper and black and white neck scarf. Theres an empty holster round his waist and a rucksack with a water bottle strapped to it. Its hard to make out his features from the dirt thats began to settle on him.

...and in bursts Jenny Thunder, lady adventurer extrordinaire, carrying a crystal skull blazing with light. The Raven is filled with shimmering rays of purple and silver and gold. The woman in the aviator's jacket looks around the room. "Say, can someone give me a hand with this thing? Any of you fellow treasure hunters know how to turn this thing off? I think it's calling to the Nazis, they've been following me for days."

The bouncer's ears catch only one word, but that's enough.

Nazis? Why, out of all the bars in this godforsaken country, she has to bring it in this one?
