Looking for smaller figures.

First post, great site you guys have here!

I want to build a large, and I mean large, Indy themed diorama. Up to 10' x
20', with scenes from several of the movies, a working train (the circus train from Last Crusade) & slot car track that will feature cars/trucks from the pictures. Basically a huge grown up play set. : ) I worked as a scenic artist/stand by painter when I lived in LA (no Indy stuff, unfortunately) and now am a professional model builder.

What I could really use is smaller, about 2" Indy & related figures. Approximately 1/35th Scale. Has anything decent been released in this size or are all the figures 4" to 12" in height?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Welcome to The Raven. :hat:

My favourite mini scale is in the smaller 25-28mm range. I'm not really up on those larger figures, but you could ask here for advice on whatever scale you prefer:

There are some 25-28mm figures in this thread.

Sticking with 1/32 would make it much easier to locate animals for the train, as you could go for those made by Britains (especially the older plastic models which were better sculpted).

For figures you'd be looking at toy soldiers, cowboys and farm models, or the fine detailed models by Preiser:

I'm not aware of any specific 1/32 Indy figures - the closest are probably these (!) :

I look forward to seeing what you eventually create!

Thanks much. It looks like I might have to do some customizing of 1/35 military figures to get what I need. I was hoping there might have been a set of nicely sculpted smaller figures done sometime in the last 25 years. The ones you posted are a little too cartoonish.

BTW Montana Smith I actually live in Montana. : ) Nice part of the country! Cheers!

Before I edited my post I was going to suggest using 1/43 scale (O Gauge), as that would provide off-the-shelf railway models, as well as 1/43 Scalextric clones that you could use as the base for motorizing period vehicles (which are, of course, also plentiful in 1/43).

Even then finding figures in 40-42mm might not be easy. Smaller figures on slotta bases can mask some height difference, and there are ranges of pulp wargames models around 35mm.

Just saw these 54mm metal Indy kits:

I'm bumping this to maybe jog someones memory. Were there ever any smaller figures released? Under 2". Maybe with Happy Meals or whatever? I don't mind painting them if the sculpting decent. What about when Raiders first came out? Any smaller vintage figures that anyone knows about I should keep my eyes open for or is a lost cause?

Thanks much!

Though I realize they're not the sort of thing you want if you're asking about miniatures and other small figures, I have to point out LEGO made a bunch of Indiana Jones sets recently with minifigure incarnations of quite a great many characters from the four films.
