What videogames wouldn't exist if it wasn't for Indiana Jones?

Like Star Wars, Indiana Jones as inspired many videogames but which do you think would not have existed if not for Indy? Obviously all the 'official' Indy games (such as Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures for SNES) are a result of the movies but what else?

I think the most obvious choice would be the Tomb Raider series (NB. did you know that originally the game was created starring a male adventurer wearing a Fedora-style hat but they were so scared of Lucasfilm taking legal action against them the game's producers turned 'him into a her' to escape litigation. I wonder if the game would have been so popular without chesty Lara bouncing around the screen!?)

The Rick Dangerous games were a direct decendant of the Indy franchise (actually from the same people who produced the Lara Croft games) ...

Then there was Montazuma's Revenge on the Atari ...

I remember really enjoying playing Fred (by Quicksilva) on my Sinclair Spectrum (UK home computer) way back in 1984 ...

And recently there was Uncharted: Drake's Fortune on the PS3 ...

Any other ideas

Probably the most obvious is Pitfall. The game was very obviously inspired by Indiana Jones, with Pitfall Harry running along through the jungle, swinging over gaps and avoiding boobytraps in a search for anciant mayan artifacts. The later versions were even closer to Indy, with the character adopting Indy style clothes and using a whip.

So, since Pitfall is in a way the original platformer and paved the way for pretty much every platformer since, you could say the entire genre owes a lot to Indy.

In was a point n' click game in the same vein as LucasArts Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. I've never played it but, judging for the screenshots google image search brought up, it doesn't look all that bad.

Finally got around to reading the OP. (lol)

I knew that the protaganist of TR was male in the pre-production stages, but I did not know that he wore a fedora or that they switched it to female because they were afraid of a lawsuit. The way I heard it was that they changed it because they realized during when they saw the concept art that the setting and game itself would be much more suspenseful and frightening if the main character was a woman.

I like your explanation more; it's much more plausible, I think.

Flight of the Amazon Queen is actually an excellent game. Fit enough to stand alongside the Lucasarts classics. It's really, really good. You can also download it for free from abandonia.com and funnily enough you can run it using ScummVM, the program designed for the Lucasarts classics.

I used to play that a lot in the '80s (and Jungle Boy which was almost identical).
There also Montezuma's Revenge and Pharaoh's Tomb. Do you remember the Aztec computer game?
That was a cool one.

A little less obvious than some of those old Genesis games, but I think that Uncharted definitely has it's roots in Indiana Jones. But then again, I also think that a lot of the backdrops in the new KOTCS movie owe it's roots to Uncharted (PS3).

Great game, btw. It's a system seller all the way... (y)

(Note that Rick's Jonesy appearance was changed in the horrible sequel. But the original is still there. E.g. on http://rickdangerousflash.free.fr/)

"Montezuma's Return" was even Indier than the original game.

The excellent "Bermuda Syndrome" would not have existed, either.

I just finished "Secret Files: Tunguska" It's a more recent point and click adventure game. During PC installation Nina is shown wearing a fedora, and Whip. Definitely influenced by the series at least.

Some unknown game called "Ardy Lightfoot" has an Indiana Jones like cat that saves your ass in certain parts of the game.

That's all I can think of, besides Pitfall.

A scene in a lesser known game called BRave Fencer Muashi. Statue's head comes off and chases the title character down a building and through the forest.

Hell, one scene in the game involes some temple raiding and fighting a temple guardian.
