Balls Out

ba-dump-bump

I just wanted to throw this screenplay out there to those of us who write and read these things, it just got sold and has gained some infamy in some circles. What do you guys think of "Balls Out". Just read the first damn page and see if you want to continue on...

It's been getting some mixed reviews, everything from incredible to intolerable.

The link to the actual script is in the middle of the page after the comments from some famous screenwriters.

I read Shane Black's screenplay for Lethal Weapon again yesterday, and man I loved the way that bastard wrote it. It has to be in the top ten or twenty best ever written screenplays. I think I enjoy reading it more than watching the actual film. A must read for writers.

Anyway, there is a screenwriter named John August who does podcasts about the craft. There are some good little bits of info in there... check it out here.

How does someone get this screenplay that you speak of?

Just wondering if the any of the writers on this board have ever entered the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences "Nicholl Fellowship" for screenwriting?

I did this past month and was barely eligible, (you are not eligible if you have earned more than 5 grand for writing).

And at that are there any Done Deal Message board members here?

I know of one who sent me over there years ago... Thanks by the way.

Entered the Nicholl two years ago. Made the first cut (top 25%?), but didn't get any further. Same screenplay was in the top 10% of historical category at the Page Awards, but again, didn't finish in the money.

Not a member at Done Deal.

I just write enough to film a scene and usually make my shorts with unfinished scripts. I'm just a youngster I suppose, so it's not like any of it's serious, but I always take filmmaking very seriously. There's now way I could screen-write, my true love is film-editing and sometimes camera work.
