The program is rated TV-PG-V and at times TV-PG-14 for action and peril and like NBC/BBC Merlin it's totally family friendly howbeit it's aimed at teens and young adults and so it should no doubt prove enjoyable for the entire family.

Oh hey it's the White knight from Through the Looking-Glass. Guess they're mixing both stories into one new tale. Fun.

Color me excited. :whip:

Well I think that SyFf has split Alice into three major episodic chapters the same as they did with with Tin Man. BTW I read that Guillermo Del Toro has agreed with P.Jackson to split The Hobbit into three episodic films, the third of which will serve as a bridge between the events of The Hobbit and the LOTR Trilogy.

Well folks not only will we be heading back down the rabbit hole but we'll also be moving back to Kansas and getting wisked alway to an emerald city as Dakota Fanning is cast as the daughter of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz sequel.

The sequel will be set in the present day and will be a bit "darker" yet "family friendly," the film will carry a tone similar to that of The Golden Compass and The Chronicles of Narina: Prince Caspian.
122230_1.jpg

Writer Josh Olson, who is handling the screenplay, previously admitted the new Oz would be dark, but compared it more to the popular Harry Potter films. He also implied that some of McFarlane’s edgier designs — his Dorothy toy is buxom, while Toto has been re-imagined as a warthog — would not necessarily be reflected in the finished product.

"I saw those toys, and Dorothy as some bondage queen isn’t something I want to do," Olson told Variety in 2007. "The appealing thing about the [L. Frank] Baum books to me is how wildly imaginative they are. There are crazy characters from amazing places. I want this to be Harry Potter’dark, not Seven dark."

Earlier this month, Olson said in an interview that Warner Brothers, which holds the rights to the original Oz film, is aiming for a PG-13 rating and a 2013 release date for the latest sequel.

OZ_001.jpg

"You've still got Dorothy trapped in an odd place," explains co-producer Todd McFarlane. "But she's much closer to the Ripley character from Alien, than a helpless singing girl."

The toy line from which McFarlane has picked up the idea is very strange and twisted and therefore screenwriter Josh Olson is having to clean things up a bit. Expect a cross between the LOTR films, POTC and Narnia as the end result.

Off-Topic question: Why the hell did Sci-Fi change it's spelling to SyFy? Sounds like some lame attempt at appealing to the slang-obsessed 'hip' generation. Stupid, IMO.

I must agree. It's the same reason why Nick at Night and TVLand are showing useless, retarded reality shows now.

I don't like Wizard of OZ. But I will watch this new movie just to see what its like. BTW I agree with on the Sci-Fi thing weird how they changed to SyFy, I like Sci-Fi better. No comment on Alice and Wonderland.

No IndyRcks, this is not at all a remake but rather a sequel to the first Disney Alice in Wonderland film just as the upcoming Dakota Fanning film will serve as a sequel to the classic and original The Wizard of Oz film.

BTW kongisking and Lonsom_Drifter in relation to your concerns regarding the name change of SciFi Channel to SyFy from what I've read and heard executives at SciFi did not change the name in order to appeal to the "hip" generation but rather because of the fact that science fiction is no longer science fiction in our world today but rather reality.

In addition the channel's marketing strategist wanted to change their image from that of offering scientifically accurate and austere programming like The Twilight Zone, Star Trek and Stargate: Atlantis to a more care free and imagination-based content which includes fantasy, adventure, paranormal and the classical science fiction genre among others in an attempt to draw younger viewers and attract families and youth with familiar realms like last year's Tin Man (The Wizard of Oz) and this year's upcoming Alice (Alice in Wonderland).

Furthermore unlike the generic term Sci Fi which represents the entire science fiction genre the new name SyFy can easily be protected by a trademark and is in turn easier to market on goods and services without fear of confusion with other companies products.

Sadly in regards to the Disney/Tim Burton video game adaption of Alice in Wonderland those of us who own the XBOX 360, PSP and PS3, it looks as if we're all left out in the cold. So far Disney Interactive (Buena Vista Games) has only announced it on the following platforms: PC/Wii/DS/iPhone/iPod Touch.

Below is the SyFy Alice trailer. I know the quality is not the best but you'll enjoy it.

That is the poster for this year's D23, a new conference for Disney fans that's the equivalent of the computer and electronic industry's E3 and CES.

Below is a news excerpt:

Exclusive sneak peeks at "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time" and "Alice in Wonderland" will be shown during the D23 Expo. On Wednesday, August 19, the Walt Disney Studios has revealed the matter through a press release for the upcoming event to be held in Anaheim, California from September 10 to 13.

In addition to those two highly anticipated movies, the mouse house will also unveil sneak peeks at its other upcoming movies that include "A Christmas Carol (2009)", "The Sorcerer's Apprentice", "Tron: Legacy" and "Old Dogs". Disney Studios Chairman Dick Cook will present all those previews at The Anaheim Convention Center.

I'm afraid FDR was on to something when he made the "All we have to fear is fear itself" statement. In the case of Todd McFarlane I've got a lot of FEAR.

Look at the diabolical image below, it's absolutely disturbing.

twisted-oz-dorothy-munchkins.jpg

I pray (I'm SERIOUS), literally pray that the upcoming Wizard of Oz movie is not debouched and disturbing like the above image.

Nevertheless even McFarlane himself has acknowledged that Warner Bros. has indicated that the movie must be toned down and sent in the direction of Harry Potter instead of a twisted R-rated version of Lord of the Rings with a bit of porno-bondage queen. Honestly this Todd McFarlane guy needs to have his head examined. Furthermore the man denies any knowledge of Dakota Fanning being cast as Dorothy Gale or DG's granddaughter.

As far as I'm concerned this McFarlane gentleman seems completely MAD and I'd love to see young Fanning as Dorothy or her granddaughter or whatever. I'd much rather Timm Burton helm this project as opposed to Todd McFarlane. Burton is doing a wonderful job with Alice in Wonderland and I know he, Johnny Depp and Dakota Fanning could do a fantastic job with The Wizard of Oz sequel as opposed to this MAD McFarlane man.

Anyway guys you can find out more about McFarlane and Warner Bros. attempt at a Harry Potter-esque Wizard of Oz at the links below.

Oh no! God forbid, something should be disturbing!

The word you were looking for is "debauched." Though I do think you have some severe anxieties relating to your own debouchment. Some Freudian anxieties causing you this inability to mature beyond this concern for your mother's thoughts on your viewing habits?

Look my dear friend, I don't have a concern for my mother's thoughts on my viewing habits Resident Alien, howbeit although I'm an adult I still love and respect my parents and the religious community and those who not so religious.

I have a concern for the movie industry and the direction in which some ridiculous and debauched gentlemen like Todd McFarlane want to take it. People like McFarlane have no business in Hollywood and should find a place in the porn industry if that's want they want to do. Pornography is NOT an art but rather a mental and moral sickness.

There are still people in this world who hold to the values, principles and intellectually sound doctrine of the Fathers of Society. Behind the scenes these people are working to create a moral and intellectually indestructible society, however some are working for a New World Order. People like Thomas Jefferson, Sir Fancis Bacon, Patrick Henry and Thomas Edison have not perished from the Earth. One day the world will see a City on our Knees realized.

Again I repeat, Pornography is not an art but rather an insult to women of great moral character. If someone wants to view such X-Rated content then they may do so in the confines of their bedrooms and chamber of secrets where ever they may reside. The movie industry was created out of the desire to entertain people and families and as George Lucas has said to "direct the beautiful minds of children to imaginative worlds." Furthermore I like the statement Lucas gives Yoda in Star Wars "there is nothing more beautiful than the mind of a child."

Beside's when it comes to classics on which I was raised (The Wizard of Oz being my most well loved favorite) it makes me indignant when twisted minds like that of Todd McFarlane and Tyler Perry come along and attempt to rape childhood memories (i.e. G.I. Joe) and revered classics like the Wizard of Oz. Some things deserve reverent respect and legendary classic's like The Wizard of Oz, Labyrinth, A Christmas Carol and The Dark Crystal require such respect.

oz.jpg

I am indeed glad that Josh Olsen and executives at Warner Brothers have mad e it clear that they are not going to created an R-rated Wizard of Oz movie but that the film will be more Harry Potter-ish if nothing else. At lest someone has common sense. Furthermore Mr. McFarlane has already begun backpeddling and I quote him ""We're spending $100m here, we can't go totally nuts...So I've told them that the movie I like is the one they're willing to make, I essentially pitched Lord of the Rings". Even he realizes he need's to clean things up and fly straight with the flying monkeys.

As far as I'm concerned if the movie is anything like HP and The Prisoner of Azkaban or A Series of Unfortunate Events I'll be all over this Return to Oz. Furthermore I like Tim Burton as opposed to Todd McFarlane. Tim Burton, Steven Spielberg, J.J. Abrams and Jerry Bruckheimer are geniuses compared to Spawn creator Todd McFarlane. I hope that some how either Tim Burton or Jim Carrey ( A Series of Unfortunate Events) can helm this Wizard of Oz sequel as opposed to Todd McFarlane, simply look at what Burton is doing now with Alice in Wonderland.

Funny you should say that!

The new Porn adaptation of Alice in Wonderland looks incredibly hawt. Way amped for this one.

Shot in beautiful 35mm, based on the works of Lewis Carrol and Hunter S Thompson and starring Sasha Grey, Lexi Belle and Jenna Presley, this could prove one incredible adaptation. And Ron Jeremy has a speaking-only cameo!

...not to mention all the hardcore sex!

And kindly don't try and legislate your prudishness. Sexuality is no secret and people shouldn't be afraid to acknowledge their natural inclination just because you're a silly prudish child.

Look man, I did not say anything about anything being secret. Why the heck do you think people get married?

Now go run along like a sweet dirty little boy and behave! I don't want the moderators to have to close my topics due to the likes of mentally unstable gentlemen like you Resident Evil.

Now if you don't have anything in regards to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland or McFarlane's Wizard of Oz sequel then I kindly ask you to stay out of my topic and roam different pastures or I'll seek assistant from Finn and I'm not joking. You've insulted me, my mother and my faith for the last time quark. I've tried being nice to you but every time I give you an inch you go a devilish mile.

Because it's a religious institution. It's called INDOCTRINATION. Same thing I've been trying to spell out to you from the get-go. Your religious beliefs do not dictate the behavior for the rest of the world.

Sex predates marriage. And religion. What do you have to say to that?

You've be watching to many episodes of the Flintstones and then all the XXX material you've been viewing has crossed up your brain circuits and therefore you're speaking in an evolutionary/womanizer manner.

Nothing predates anything because there is no such thing as Evolution. There is only Intelligent Design. But let me not waste my precious time with a dirty little boy like you because nothing I say has any effect on your brain. Anyway run along my lad there are plenty of girls in the garden out back. Enjoy. I've got MMORPG's to play.
