Okay, the silver-handled whip was out the moment they hired Ford. Gear-makers will be disappointed.

As mentioned in another thread, here's Favreau in Wired magazine:
"We were trying to cut against the grain; we wanted to surprise people with the ending. And we ended up surprising them. But we also ended up giving ourselves a tremendous burden for the next film."

I said earlier in this thread Harry Potter would be a success. I just have a hard time believing it'll still be huge when Cowboys and Aliens comes out(the same way Transformers 3 didn't do much to slow Harry Potter's success).

Also, I'm really talking from a domestic perspective. I have no doubt Potter will beat everything overseas(except Pirates 4), but I'm really focusing on America's box office.

Frankly, I'll wait til the reviews to see how big this movie will be.

Here's a great snippet from that first link:

an amazing, nuanced performance from Harrison Ford. Though the whole cast was terrific, I really felt like this was Ford's film. As a grizzled old war vet whose toughness has alienated his only son, Ford managed to strike the perfect chord of badassery mixed with kindhearted regret. Who thought that a movie about cowboys, Indians, and villains fighting creepy-ass aliens would also pack an emotional punch? I didn't. And so when the tearful moments came ? right in the middle of battle ? it was a pleasure to feel more than just bloodlust.

I hope this puts Ford back on top of his game, it's been awhile since he's been acknowledged for a great performance.

I'm planning on seeing this in 2 days, even though I've never been a fan of Jon Favreau in the director's chair. I've been a big fan of westerns lately since playing through the amazing story in Red Dead Redemption.

I'm hoping Jon can congure up something fun, but it seems like he thinks, they've created a masterpiece. Personally, I'm not getting my hopes up, but Harrison and Daniel as cowboys fighting aliens is enough for me to show up opening day.
