Military Insignia in the Indiana Jones films

The Leibstandarte-ᛋᛋ Standartenführer wears another decoration next to his SA Sports Badge and Iron Cross Second class:

It looks similar to the 1939 Wounded Badge:

Can anybody confirm this?

That's his 1914 Iron Cross 1st class. The 1914 2nd class is displayed by the black and white ribbon on the tunic.

The other badge looks like a 1918 Black 3rd class 'Iron' Wound Badge awarded to those who had received one or two wounds.

Thank you for these corrections. A 1918 badge makes more sense obviously, because the film is set in 1938.

Indeed!

The lack of a swastika on the helmet is the giveaway.

Quite commendable that they bothered to get certain things right, though they did get sloppy in other areas!

Indeed. I just assumed it was another anachronism and didn't bother to check whether there had been a similar WWI medal. Should we speculate as to where he was wounded?

Frostbite to the family jewels might explain his 'Screams Like a Little Girl' trope.

That trope looks like it could have written by me but was not. Your suggestion does certainly explain his screams but it cannot explain his slapping Jones Sr. with his leather glove, nor his consistent passionate *assaulting* Jones Jr from behind on the top of his tank.
