Bond 22 - Quantum of Solace

Yeah, I never believed that rumor. No producer would suffer such a ham overload as to kill a freshly-rebooted series.

Nice pictures. I still hate the title, though. And the rumored alternatives -- Risico and Portrait of a Lady -- aren't much better. I would be happy if they just went with calling it 007.

Risico was a classy title, alright.

Tinsy bit off-topic, but it certainly isn't enough to warrent its own thread...the only Bond film I've seen is License To Kill, which I liked.

What Bond movies are worth viewing, and which should I avoid?

Wow, you've got a goldmine to discover. Sean Connery is widely held as the best Bond, so my advice would be to see the Roger Moore's first, to get a different perspective than most.
There are a few duds to avoid: A View To A Kill isn't great, and most of the Pierce Brosnan's are totally silly (apart from Halle Berry in a bikini).
Basically, buy the boxset and lock yourself inside the house for about a month. Enjoy...:gun:

Woah... someone who has seen only one Bond film during his life. [Insert the mandatory question about growing up in a barrel here.]

Back to topic. LTK is actually generally considered one of the worst Bond flicks out there. There are worse, though. Everything from the Connery era is worth viewing, Moore's work defines on taste. Some highly campy moments out there to beware of. If you wish similar in style with TLK, the ones made before and after that one (Living Daylights and GoldenEye, respectively) might be the good ones start with.

Casino Royale is a treat. Everything made between it and GoldenEye are pretty forgettable, though.

True, Brosnan's were really, irritatingly ramshackle.

Casino Royale, Goldeneye, Thunderball and Goldfinger are probably my favorite Bond films. On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Moonraker are probably my least favorite. One actor I'd really like to see play a Bond Tony Shalhoub, best known for playing the title character in Monk.

Yes the scrips for most of his films were not really good, but he was a cutie, between him and Harrison Ford, it would be a tough choice to decide which one is more handsome, but I think Ford beats him but Bronsnan is not far behind, any girl would agree on that.

Back to topic, you can't go wrong with any Conery bond film (execpt Never Say Never Agian, but we will not count that shall we)
Casino Royal is a good film, except for the fact that it feels like it has 5 endings before the final ending, that was sort of annoying.

Ol' Tone would make a fine Bond.

Us Brits will do a swap with you Americans. You can have Shalhoub as Bond if you let us have Brosnan as the new Indy.:D

Shalhoub cannot be any worse than Craig, the bricklayer.

Woops! I meant to say Shalhoub as a Bond VILLAIN. Not as Bond himself. That I'm not so sure about.

Yeah, somehow I completely skipped over Bond. Heck, I still probably wouldn't have seen ANY of them if I hadn't rented License back in '07 on a whim. No one I know was ever into the franchise. ::shrug::

So... Connery's the best, though I may want to watch Roger Moore's first, and Brosnan's are mediocre. Gott'cha.

I'm not sure what I want, 'cause though I did enjoy LTK I also have nothing to compare it to. It had a nice mix of (unintentional?) humor and violence. The guy getting pulled into the rock crusher was way brutal. (y) I'll have to check out Living Daylights because I like Timothy Dalton.

And does it matter what order you view the films in, or are they all pretty much stand alone?

VVVVThat first picture reminds me of Indy.

Not at all, I would say they stand alone. Each Bond actor has a different feel. Moore is by far the most humorous. Dalton is a very cold hearted Bond. Connery and Brosnan are pretty balanced. Craig is a bit like Connery but more physical and a bit cold heated like Dalton. It varies from film to film somewhat as well.

No, you're on to something. Shaloub would rock as 007.(y)

Maybe I'm just too used to him playing Monk to imagine him as Bond.
New pics look great. I'm really looking forward to Quantum of Solace.
