Roeper: KOTCS is "one of the best worst movies"

On this week's Ebert & Roeper, he called KOTCS "one of the best worst movies I've ever seen." In other words, it's full of flaws, but still fun.

That sums up my feeling, as well. Yes, I'm disappointed because I think the movie could have been SO much better, but I'm still looking forward to seeing it again and enjoying it for what it is, rather than agonizing over what it's not.

(Yes, I probably could have found a "reviews" thread to put this in. Sue me.)

There was actually a guest subbing in for Ebert, and he gave it a thumbs down. At least Roeper gave it thumbs up.

Ebert just loves Indiana Jones, period.
Raiders: 4 stars.
Temple: 4 stars.
Crusade: 3.5 stars.
Kingdom: 3.5 stars.

I was expecting a rather scathing review of Indy 4 from him. I was very surprised to find out he liked it, even equal to LC! I'm still undecided...

At least Siskel had some valid criticisms for Last Crusade and Temple of Doom. I may not have agreed with him overall but I respected his critique of those films. Ebert on the other hand like Phantom Menace. If Gene were still alive then he would have hated it.

I would not give them much credit.. I mean they gave two big thumbs for speed racer and that movie bombed. the fact that ebert has given it 3 and half stars is a good sign.

Did Siskel give Temple of Doom thumbs down? Is his TV or print review available online anywhere? I know he gave Last Crusade thumbs down, and I could not relate to any of his critiques of the movie at all, even though I don't think it's a perfect movie either.

Ebert wrote his review in the paper he has worked for since the late 60's, The Chicago Sun-Times, his real job.
