Indy 5 news 2012

Since they pulled of the deal that fast, there's just no way they intend to put the hat on someone other than Ford.

This is great news. Why would Disney bother having these discussions if they weren't interested in making another movie?

That rumor that Ford used a Star War appearance as a bargaining chip to get IJ5 may have been true after all.

Finally some truly reassuring news and not just rumor.

Well, well, well, so I guess Paramount is NOT going to be a roadblock to new films as some here insisted?

I think the Disney folks will immediately have Kathleen Kennedy trying to light the fire again. The article was not concrete on who actually calls the shots though? Do George/Steven simply get a say/story veto power? Is George Lucas FINALLY removed from Indiana Jones story writing duties? If so, then I think this could actually move forward rather quickly.

The other side of the coin is that even if Harrison returns, Disney will undoubtedly attempt to move this into a future franchise like they do everything else.

Disney would not have closed this deal unless they were pretty sure they could get another movie with Harrison they know a recast or reboot would not fly at the box office. This means Spielberg is most likely also on-board & Lucas will be a background consultant.

Best case scenario is they decide to make 2 movies back to back end part 5 on a cliffhanger in the best saturday morning serial tradition Indy is partially based on & go all out for fortune & glory in part 6 :D

Obviously being Disney they will aim for very family friendly elements like cute animals/young sidekicks etc etc

Wait. Were people really talking about Ford's funking haircut?! How did I miss that? That's an entire new level of... just wow. They're going to feed on this news for weeks.

Ohmigawd! Ohmigawd! Ohmigawd! Ohmigawd!

You say that like it's a bad thing. See below. Once Ford finally kicks off and is forced to abandon the idea that he's still an action star, Side of Beef and Indy's Bro will be there to stoke the fires. In the future enactment embedded below, Terry Kiser fills in for Ford; Tom Wright fills in for Side of Beef; and Steven James plays the part of Indy's bro. Apologies, but costuming was unable to secure a fedora at the time of the shoot.

Wow this was unexpected to say the least, but is great news. I hope they move forward with a new movie real soon, I want more Indiana Jones! :whip:

Hopefully at the least this could pave the way for a new Indy 3D game, albeit via Electronic Arts, who have done many a decent FPS James Bond game.

Indy 5 possibly on the way??
Harrison to return one last time??
Taking the Bond route with different actors taking the whip??
Lucas/Spielberg possibly NOT involved??

I am excited and scared at the same time, but am thrilled to hear of possible movement on new Indy at long last.

I'm sure there are top-men working on this at this moment.
Looking forward to hearing Ed, Mitch, and the crew from The IndyCast leading us into a new era whatever it may be!

I agree. Securing future distribution rights (for a product already in supply and, demand) is vastly different than greenlighting a new film.

Come on guys, do you really believe that Disney will keep Harrison Ford as Indy, jumping, climbing, horse riding, at 71 years old? Di$ney will probably produce more than one new Indy, and will look on future (imagine Indy 7, Harrison Ford aged 80!).
Believe me, I DO love Harrison Ford (well actually I used to love the young Harry), but I want an Indy in a perfect shape, and I don't want any Mutt character to make all the action. So for me, the only way to see Harrison in Indy 5 (maybe he will be 73 when the production starts!), is by him to play an old Indy remembering kicking nazis ass (with another actor as young Indy) in the five begining minutes. Or if it's a reboot, he could make a cameo?

PS : and sorry for my approximative english:eek:

NO...I believe they want Harrison to play Indy in one last film, to make him happy and its the right thing to do..then after that when Harry does die, or when he is close to 80, they will do a huge big reboot with a young actor to be in around three more films. This is the way I think they will do it..;)

Indiana is Harrison. so they need to send Harry of with one last great adventure....if they just pick a new young actor now that would be wrong and would **** Harry and all the fans off.

That said, the timing is pointed.

I don't think so, my thinking is that Disney wants the profits from the sales of the current films to be funneled to them soley. Afterall, it's Christmas Theo, it's the time of miracles. So be of good cheer...and call me if they do anything else. I won't hold my breath for anything besides merchandising profits for the House of Mouse.

A deal like the one they signed was surely worth millions of dollars. Many, MANY millions of dollars. Which I bet they simply wouldn't have bothered investing, if it was that they didn't already have a concrete plan to capitalize on 'em.

They made a deal for future films. A deal that has now been officialised and made the headline of every possible news site and magazine in the world. Well, with this kind of situation, I would even go as far as saying that probably now as we are writing, the creative talents of the Disney company are already brainstorming on how to get things started on a possible new installment. They just wouldn't have wasted that load of money for no reason. Not by a single chance.
