I friggin' love bacon and could eat it until I die, which wouldn't take long. I don't want to die though.

I had some good BBQ ribs the other week... But there aren't many things to beat a good bacon sandwich (on white bread with tomato ketchup).

 I'm mostly Hungarian and pork dishes are a favorite among Hungarians. One of the most famous is a receipe called "Gypsy Bacon." It used to be made by Hungarian shepherds for dinner when they were out in the fields at night tending their flocks. My cousins make it in their backyard once a year, though I've never had it.

How many Hungarians have joined the Raven? I'm Hungarian (in part anyway), Rae-deemer's Hungarian and you're Hungarian! And notice that we're all female!
Back to the pork-related topic... I'm sure some Hungarian somewhere has had pork goulash, in place of beef or chicken... And the best breakfast is bacon and eggs with buttered toast...

Well howdyalikethat? Lots o' Hunky ladies, huh? Yeah, my last name is Feher, which means "white" or "fair" in Hunky. Apparantly, in Hungary it's as common a last name as Jones or Smith over here in the US of A. My first name is common as rocks too, unfortunately...
Still, not too many Fehers in my area.

Not recently. But here's a novel serving suggestion. ;)

Ewwww! Health food people would call that "food porn!" Yuck! Doesn't look too tasty, myself... sorry.

BTW, if you have any misgivings about eating meat because you feel bad about animals having to die to fulfill our meat lust-- which I admit I have-- I highly suggest: www.sorrycow.com
Here you can do what I did: apologize for animals for their deaths, yet chide them for being so darn delicious.

As well as Hungarian, I'm also Italian, so my last name is of Italian origins but isn't as common as Martini. My first name is of Hebrew origin, yet I'm not Jewish and it's a common as a girl's name can get. My grandmother's Hungarian and from Budapest. Her father was from Eger. My Italian side is from Verona and Paduay. Hence why I love gelati....Anyway, I had bacon and eggs with buttered toast this morning....delicious...

I'm also Irish on my mom's side and her mother was Polish.

I love bacon and eggs too! How do you like your eggs? I usually have mine scrambled, although I like them sunny side up, too. I love dipping my toast in the gooey yolks! However, I like my sunny side eggs well done. If there's any uncooked whites in it it turns me right off. I don't like them "snotty!"

What's your favorite type of toast? I just adore rye. It gets so nice and crunchy when it's toasted!

Uh oh. Getting hungry...

Okay, this is a little off topic, but sheesh, you can't talk about bacon and NOT mention eggs! They go together like... well... Indy and Marion. ;)

Oh, you are so right, West. Good ribs are the bomb, aren't they?! Love, love, love 'em!

That bacon sandwich? Just add lettuce, skip the ketchup and use REAL tomatoes and you've got a BLT sandwich. Great in the late summer when the tomatoes off the plants in the backyard are ripe and tender...

In light of the recent sociological breakdown here at the Raven, I thought I would chime in here on the subject of Bacon.

That cryptic master of the rolls, whose flavor is often under appreciated by the lesser minds, who only view it as something to merely be consumed, and do not truly ruminate it over and over again in your mouth. For those who don't know what I mean, I offer a quote of Bacon

"Certainly virtue is like precious odors, most fragrant when they are incensed, or crushed: for prosperity doth best discover vice, but adversity doth best discover virtue."

Bacon, Francis BACON

This thread is still going????

No matter how long The Raven is closed or how the world changes, it appears that any and all things related to bacon will survive.;)

I think that it really says something about our community that we collectively have been able to sustain a discussion about bacon for just over seventy-five replies.

Now exactly what it says about us is another matter entirely. ;)
