The ride was great as usual, but I didn't like the video projection of the rats running across a branch. It was projected on some smoke that you drove through. It just seemed out of place with the rest of the ride.

Yeah, I've never seen it working effectively. I don't recall at the moment whether it was in better shape in the earliest days of the ride, by virtue of some since long-lost effect still working.

Post Fun Facts - Forbidden Eye

Check out this website for an exhaustive wealth of details & conversation about The Forbidden Eye. (Don't know how much of it is correct but felt it was worth mentioning.) The page may take a long time to load but fans of the ride should find it interesting.

The year that the Indiana Jones ride takes place is in 1935. This is directly off the Cast Member Training Handout from 1995.
REPORTED: Kirsten 19 FEB 02

Aha! I knew it! I was trying to argue this in the chronology thread way back when, but couldn't remember when or where I'd read it.

Fun stuff there Stoo.

Ah this ride, remember when I was younger I would close my eyes during the part all the bugs come out. Now, I'm a bit made of sterner stuff. Also, never really had a use for the 'Indy' hats the shop sells right across from it.

As the linked article says, in a post dated June 26, 2014, he visited the park "recently."

Does anybody have an audio file of the complete ride from entrance to finish ?? I had a copy of it but now it's on another computer (my old one) and it's a real hassle to set up just to extract a copy of that file. I could have sworn I got my initial copy from here at The Raven. Any help would appreciated, thnx.

... which I posted already last year.

Uh... well, this is new: I found the entire Jungle Cruise queue audio loop - almost an hour, interspersed with news segments including the Forbidden Eye bits - on SoundCloud.

Anybody have a copy of the "The Making of Disneyland's Indiana Jones Adventure" they are willing to share? I just want to see a high quality version of it and not the crummy YouTube one I saw.

I'd be eternally grateful if someone out there would be willing to send me a digital copy!

I'm not 100% persuaded that it's the same exact model, but it looks like the ride's creator and primary designer Tony Baxter may have ended up with that model that was being auctioned off.

As seen here on the Season Pass Podcast's website, with the photos accompanying a wonderful multi-part podcast with Baxter.

According to the model-maker (the late John Stone) there were multiples of this model made for the exec's that green-lit the ride. One of those models lives here at Ravenwood as we had the pleasure of knowing John the past few years before his passing.

Ah, that explains the slight variations. I figured that auction mightn't be within range of an Imagineer's salary.

Spent the weekend at Disneyland. I was happy to see the well/rope effect int he Indy queue is working again. Alas the spike room is still broken.

I spotted a new (to me) Indy reference in Adventureland. I usually skip the Jungle Cruise when its busy enough that they're queuing people upstairs but with it being the Jingle Cruise for the holidays it was always busy so we waited in line yesterday. Upstairs on the open area above the lower queue line there's a bunch of shipping crates. One of them is addressed to the British delegation in Delhi from Dr. Jones.

We also went to trader Sam's on Sunday. It was so busy I couldn't get near the shadow box with the Indy writings in it sadly. The good news is that they were out of the Shipwreck on the Rocks barrel glasses so they substituted one of their 60th anniversary Tahitian Terrace mugs instead.

But Indy is pals with Trader Sam and Sam borrowed decor from the Tiki Room. Therefore it's all canonical...

Jose the Parrot is the sidekick in Indy 5. Calling it now.

Already have my order in at the comic book store.

(My wife has collected all the Kingdoms comics but this one I'm actually interested in)
