Hi everyone,

I was wondering about the accuracy of the grail diary replica starter kit?

It is a blank book!

Well to me it looks okay, and the page number and the size seems accurate, maybe not a 100 %, but that is fine.

What do you think?

For my part, I like it, but although the page number seems fine, it seems very thick...

I've got the the offer as the next highest bidder and right now I have doubt, that I will make the right decision.

I bought from the seller the Young Indiana Jones Diary and I am very happy with.

Here is the description from the seller for the grail diary:

Description

INDIANA JONES GRAIL DIARY

- Replica Starter Kit -

This blank diary has been designed for fans of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade who wish to make their own replica of the famous Grail Diary.

This book is bound in buffalo leather and has blank pages. It is exactly the same size as the original Grail Diary of Henry Jones Sr. (16 x 10cm) and has exactly the same number of pages (144 pages/288 sides*) and the same style of binding. It also comes with an elastic loop-fastener, as in the original.

I describe it as a STARTER KIT because it has been designed as a basic book for fans who want to make a detailed replica themselves. It does NOT contain the numerous inserts collected during Indiana Jones' adventures - there are no maps, sketches, memos, letters, tickets or telegrams etc. All of these will have to be made by yourself, and there are numerous traders who offer CD guides for producing inserts.

What this book offers is a basic blank diary of the correct size, and with the right period look and feel.

The pages are a dense ivory-coloured cartridge paper that have the right period look, and which can be aged and 'distressed' further. The paper is suitable for inks, charcoal, water-colour, pencil etc.

(*TECHNICAL NOTE: In fact, the prop diary produced for the movie has 280 bound pages, plus a double-page spread glued over two original pages. I have provided the extra pages so that you can detach them and make your own glued double-page spreads using the same paper, as in the original. I am happy to advise you on further technical issues, such as binding, pagination and ageing or 'distressing' of the materials - just send me an email.)

NB: One of the attached photos shows two diaries: Henry Jones' Grail Diary is lying flat. The diary which is standing upright behind it is a replica of Indiana Jones' own diary as used in the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. This second book is NOT for sale in this eBay listing - which is for one Henry Jones' Grail Diary.

I have also attached a photo of the original movie prop for comparison

I think this isn't a bad interpretation for Grail Diary and young Indy Diary.

If you need a blank book I can work for you.

I looked at this once, but was put off, as my printer has never been very good, and uses so much ink. The ink isn't cheap, and you'll need good quality card stock or paper for the inserts, and it sounds like you'll have to get a copy of the CD. As for the rest of the pages, if they're blank how do you turn it into the Grail Diary? Are you meant to copy in all the writing and sketches yourself?

It seems like a good idea on first look, but it might be more trouble than it's worth in the end.

Great book I bought the young Indy diary and the Grail diary and they are great best I have ever had.(y)

Could you explain what the diaries actually are. Are they blank pages that you have to copy text and drawing onto? I never have understood what the deal is with these.

Ok well they are just a blank book you would have to copy all text all pictures into but like it says it is the best blank diary out there that is not over 50$.:D
