Do any of you know what was said between Indy & Lao Che in the novelization of Temple of Doom when Lao cracked a joke to Indy and Indy turned it around on Lao Che?

This little exchange was in the original TOD film, but was edited out when it was put on video (sucks, don't it?). It's only in the book of the movie. Anybody know Mandarin Chinese?

Another thing has been bugging me. . .
In Last Crusade when Indy is fighting on the tank, a soldier inside the tank makes a remark about Indy after he sees an extreme close-up of him in the tank's telescope. It's obviously a derrogatory comment because Indy kicks the scope and it spins and smacks the Nazi in the head!

What the heck did that Nazi say about Indy? I'm curious and I bet others are too. Thanks in advance for any answers!

Perhaps if you were paying attention a few weeks ago, you would've seen the thread where we translated it. However, since I remember what the translation was, I'll tell ya. The nazi said "The American, who fight like the women!" On that note, Indy proceeds to hitting the periscope, thereby putting the foolish nazi into submission. Speaking of nazis, there's a National Socialist convention in my town. I think it's a very very bad idea......

he says "die amerikaner, die kämpfen wie weiber" wich means
"those americans fight like women". but "weiber" is not precisely the best way to call a woman. a "weib" is used when you say the sex of an animal.

It's understood that Indy didn't hear the comment. It was "movie justice" when he accidently kicked the scope. :)

I have the novelization. The exchange they talk about in there (i thought) was right after they knock the antedote to the floor, Indy and Lao are very close and facing each other. I can look in the book again, but that probably wouldn't be a literal translation from the film.

Okay, I don't think this is either Mandarin or Cantonese. It sounds more like Shanghainese, which sadly, I don't speak :p The best I can do is to give you a rough translation :)

Lao smiled at Indy. "How are you lately?"
Chen and Kao Kan laughed malignantly.
Indy smiled in return. "I'm fine, and you? I will talk with the *jung chee jah loonee (probably something insulting to his son)* kao *soo wah*." He turned the joke around on Lao Che.

Heh, sorry about not being able to translate the most important part of the conversation, hopefully someone will! ;)
