I have found some of the Hammer Films mummy movies to be interesting nothing of course on the levels of say the I.J. movies or the Fraser mummy series but fun to watch none the less considering the eras most of them were set in and it was true that the British did a lot of research and excavations in the valley of the kings though some people would say they were tomb robbers since many artifacts from that time did end up in private hands I have been partial to Blood from the mummies tomb only because Andrew Keir played a archaeologist in it and of course the grand daddy of them all The Mummy with Boris Karloff was a good one as well let me know what you guys think about that.

Watching this right now. It's in a DVD box set of five Hammer films.

Of the others, The Devil Rides Out hasn't worn too well; The Horror of Frankenstein interesting only for Dave Prowse; Scars of Dracula not one of Lee's best; Lust for a Vampire...I'm leaving that one to last!

Blood from the Mummy's Tomb (1971) is the best of the four so far.

A bit of tomb raiding:

A lovely looking corpse:

And George Coulouris as a mad precursor to the possessed Oxley:

According to a screen note at the beginning, it's adapted from Bram Stoker's novel, The Jewel of Seven Stars (1903), which may account for it being one of Hammer's better told stories.

This page is worth a look for mummies on film:
