Anyone play either of the two?

I've been up to my ears in frustration with the new horrible service of NEXON in regards to patching and game service (most importantly lagg). Therefore I've turned my attention to Ragnarok Online and World of Warcraft.

I simply wanted to consult with you guys and ask if either of the two are MMO's are worth playing. Tonight the gentlemen at our neighborhood Game Stop affirmed that Ragnarok is great and that now is the best time to play Ragnarok Online especially with it porting over to the Nintendo DS next Spring. As for Warcraft; there were not to many positive thoughts from him on that except for the fact that he told me that I'd do well to buy prepaid Warcraft gamecards as opposed to using a credit card. Furthermore I've been told that Wacraft is nothing more than a clever rip off of JRR Tolkien's LOTR Trilogy and D&D.

BTW I downloaded the Warcraft free Mr. T demo promotional client and I was wondering how I am to claim Mr. T's grenades.

BTW are you in Ragnarok Online or Warcraft? If so please post your IGN's and your corresponding server and I'll give mine as well.

I never really played either, but I do know that it takes tons of time to even get anything in WoW or to even level up. The game requires massive amounts of time-sinks.

Incredible! You said "massive amounts of time sinks"? That's not good as I'm trying to do online Math classes and study Chemistry. Well I guess I'll have to play on the weekends then Lonesome Drifter. So what's your IGN in Warcraft? Do you play the "Burning Crusade" version or the LOTR esque "Wrath of the Lich King"?

I am halfway through the Warcraft patch. I guess NEXON is not the only one with long PATCHES! :whip: I thought that was why Blizzard had something called "expansion packs."

I never really played World of Warcraft. I had some close friends who did and one has to spend massive amounts of time in that game. I never seen the appeal of sitting in front of the computer (besides The Raven, of course!) playing a game that takes that much time. It takes MONTHS!

Not only that, but I heard the more you play WoW the more out of shape and unattractive you get.

Your troll warrior levels up but you level down.

So what's the appeal?

Well, to be honest as a loyal fan of JRR Tolkien, Narnia and Artemis Fowl, I am drawn toward Warcraft and Ragnarok. Plus the TV ads with William Shatner and Mr. T really made me want to try something big. BTW guys I think the HD Runescape is quite nice to.

Well, just join a tabletop game of Dungeons and Dragons. That's more close to Tolkien's works than WoW.
I can point you in the direction of ONLINE D&D games that are forum based and ran by DMs.

There's always...

...World of Warcraft: The Board Game. It costs a little more initially than WoW, but the time commitment is exponentially less. There's also the benefit of physical interaction.

If you can find a copy, give a look at Space Hulk.

Well I sure wish Cartoon Network would begin re-airing that magical cartoon along with the animated Legend of Zelda show. I am so frustrated with all the garbage on Cartoon Network like 6Teen, Total Drama Island and Destroy Build Destroy. I mean the programing on television has almost gone to dogs. I miss the Cartoon Network, AMC, TV Land and Spike TV of yesteryear.

Hopefully the creators of Avatar The Last Airbender,, Josh Bernstein Digging for the Truth, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, SciFi Channel's Flash Gordon, Ben10 (the first Ben10 toon) will make some more great programs because right now I am done with TNT, TBS, USA, Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. The only good TV channels are Food Network, Discovery Channel, NatGeo, SyFy and The History Channel.

Anyway back on topic, I'll check out those board games the next time I am in a comic shop or Barnes and Nobles.

Long live RPG's and high fantasy!

Are there any online LotR games? I thought there was one. Just figured, if you dig Tolkien you'd dig those (y)

A part of me always wanted to try WoW, but I could never really get into roleplaying games, and I have barely enough time to play regular games much less a big lengthy open world quest. Maybe one day.

Heed my advice

Please, if you've ever listened to the advice of any one person in your life, listen to me...DO NOT JOIN WARCRAFT. It is a great game and fun to play but unless you have no life you cannot play this game and juggle the rest of your life. Sure, the early levels are easy and you can play for a bit and then shut it off. Once you get to the higher levels and need to run dungeons or raids to keep up with the other players at your level your life is over. The first dungeon you hit in Burning Crusade takes a minimum of 2 hours to get through and it doesn't get any shorter from there. Plus, by the time you get to the higher levels you are still just doing the same type of quests; gather 20of this, kill 30 of this, etc. I tried to juggle playing this with school and my family and failed epicly.

If you don't have a ton of time to spend gaming but still want to playing something cool pick up Dragon Age. You can save at any time and can play on your schedule.

Thanks guys! Don't worry I am not going to join Warcraft as a subscriber (its far to expensive). I am going to either stick with Trickster Online, Fantasy Zhu Xian, Ragnarok Online (if I can get it to download) or Dofus and Wakfu.

I simply can't imagine myself playing Warcraft while sacrificing my soul, time and precious money to just be part of the millions of Warcrafters. I mean, I can go buy the LOTR books and let that suffice.

I just WISH that the Ragnarok game client WOULD download instead of crashing! What should I do? Here is where I am trying to download it from.

Why Cartoon Network? Cosnideringt heir quailty of cartoons is poor. Maybe Boomerang. That cartoon aired in the 80's. Which was a great series. It aired on ABC in my time.

There is a Lord of the RIngs game. It's an RPG.

MMORPG, like the other two games discussed in this thread, to be exact...

There was a console version also; if I stand correct that was released around 2003-04. It wasn't an MMO.

I have the boxset of this. It came with some awesome extras such as a book that has a small campaign and the stats for the characters.

Do you mean The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age released by EA?
There is another RPG by EA being made called The Lord of the Rings: The White Council but it may become vaporware.
