Was Marion off limits to Books and comics do to Indy IV?

Now that Marion is confirmed for Indy IV something occurred to me. Other than appearing in the Marvel comics that came out shortly after Raiders, Marion has never appeared in any novels or comic books.

Assuming the plan has always been to feature her in the new sequel, through out the different drafts, maybe this was on purpose. To not trend on any ground that the new film would eventually cover. Otherwise featuring her would have been a natural.

All of the above applies to her father as well. Assuming rumors are true...

I bet she was off-limits. Just in case they wanted to tell another "Indy and Marion" story at some point, be it on film or other media.

There was an official ban on using any of the love interests from any of the movies, unless the story you were doing was the adaptation of the movie (of course).

True... however, Rob McGregor had her in one sneaky little sentence in Genesis Deluge. When Indy is drugged he remembers a girl named Marion telling him that she's going to punch him in the face, one of these days. It's there. Look it up!

Marion was featured often as part of the ongoing backgroud story in the Marvel comics from the eighties. It was one of the best parts of the Mavel comics IMHO!:D
