Golly

Recently, here in Britain, the daughter of a former Prime Minister was in trouble for using the term 'Gollywog' ( in private) with reference to a black tennis player. She was relieved of her position on a BBC TV show.

Do you think that it is an acceptable decision for her to be fired or is this too harsh as it was a private conversation?

There is no question that the term is highly offensive, but to be sacked?

How did that "private" conversation even get leaked? And yeah, it was a comment directed toward a black person, so waves were sure to be made. The channel is probably trying to protect its image and the image of its employees, so the reasonable thing to do was fire her. I don't share their sentiment.
