Yes, it seems those are the photos/conception that Struzan used to create the poster.

Struzan's poster is far better. He's an amazing artist and there is something inherently romantic about artwork that photos just don't give you.

There's a much nicer quality, yeah; but crucially his Harrison just doesn't quite get him right; Mutt's eyes are on different levels; and Spalko looks vaguely chinese. The Marion and McHale are bob-on, though.

You're right: Spalko does look asian, and Mutt's dropped eye is now really distracting!

Mutt's pins/badges are also on the wrong lapel, so the picture's been flipped - which maybe why they removed them entirely.

This is the official US poster compared against a modestly color corrected Struzan version.
Take a look especially at Ford. His facial expression was chanced to a less grim version. Most prominently, his mouth was angled and his brow was raised.

That's great: very interesting. Cate's face changes completely; like they moved her eyes up or something.
I'm now completely confused as to which Harrison face I prefer, though!

I don't like an Indy poster with a big Indy head, though. He's a man of action: he makes more sense in a full length or at least three quarter shot.

Wow, that's some big changes! I like the original a lot better, I have to say. It's much more in line with the older Indy posters. They did they same with the teaser poster and I can't say I liked those changes as well.
