Farang is the generic Thai word for someone of European ancestry, no matter where they come from. You'll come to know the word quite well if you ever happen to visit the Land of Smiles. It's farang this, farang that, and ever amusing to Thais: A farang eating a farang. Which is apparently the name for a specific type of guava introduced by the Portuguese.

Anyway, while looking up on the possibility of further news on Sony bringing the Sonchai Jitpleecheep series to the silver screen, I came cross the macabre "news" site Farang Exits. Apparently farangs coming to Thailand to party down and then off themselves, there's an entire website chronicling their endeavors. It even headlines the local news and papers. Dig the officials posing with corpses!

Your boss might find your browsing peculiar, but everything is SFW. All the really fun things are blurred out. Still, the number of ways people manage to kill themselves intentionally or otherwise is impressive.

At 12:35 AM, Bhutasart rescue team was notified about a motorcycle and a car accident which resulted in motorcycle driver?s death, Jhon Olov Eddie Viding, age 25, Swedish. The accident happened at Soonthornphu, Mae Phim, Banprae, Rayong.

Rescuers team along with police officials arrived at the accident destination and found Viding?s body. He was son of the owner of Grand Silver Sea House, located at Laem Mae Phim beach, Rayong. He was found dead in the forest without his head; rescuers searched and found his head which was about 10 m away from where the body was found.

If there's a moral to be gleaned from all this, it's don't make an ass of yourself in a foreign country then die. You'll look really, really undignified splashed across the front page of the local broadsheet of choice.
