The Remakes Game!

I don't really think it's a remake...maybe a reboot is closer. It sounds nothing like the original, at any rate.

Oh, to be sure. And maybe it will be okay, but it does seem a strange direction to go in for what is at its core a classic Agatha Christie-style "people trapped in a house and one has been murdered" piece of source material.

Yeah, but they are coming out with a new game that seems a little more along the lines of this game. In the game, C.L.U.E. is the name of some spy organization, and players have to move around the world. You'll be given instructions like "Meet Miss Scarlet in Berlin" and there is an optional text message feature that has the game send text messages to your phone. I'm guessing that the movie will be based on this game, as opposed to the classic version people actually know and have in their homes.

Appears they're remaking "The Never Ending Story" as well...

If they do go ahead with the remake of The NeverEnding Story, I wonder if they'll bring the song back:

GRRRR-- ******l Chest Cavities will roll for this one. No one touches Cronenberg, dammit. Especially not these hacks.

EDIT

V@ginal got bleeped? What gives, Raven? Afraid of the genitalia?
Oh come on!!! Seriously the remakes need to stop!

Videodrome is perfect the way it is.

I just recently watched Timecrimes (Los cronocrimenos)2007, great movie by the way, and then I read they're thinking about remaking that one as well. The movie is 2 years old! Really? Is it necessary to remake every foreign film for American audiences, because God forbid they have to read subtitles?

What a joke!

Latest news on the Bad Lieutenant remake is that it's not so much a remake as a new story. It takes place in New Orleans this time and stars Nick Cage, Val Kilmer and xzibit.

Yeah, saw that the other day. A little part of me died when when I lay eyes upon that. Why Werner?

...Also, 20th Century Fox is remaking Alien. Fail.

What the...? I thought I read onlin somewhere the Ridley Scott was thinking about doing a sequel, rather than a remake.

Also, Disney is remaking Flight of the Navigator.

Brother Tony now confirms it to be a prequel...

Yes, Carl Rinsch is going to do the prequel to Alien. He's one of our directors at our company.

I wish they'd make up their mind. The origin story business was circulating a few weeks ago and I was pretty amped for that. Then they reported remake-- seems like it's back to origin story again. Well... that's a relief.

I like Werner. He hasn't managed to make a bad picture yet, so I'm holding out that BL:pOCNO will be up to snuff. The role isn't that had for Msr. Cage -- he's been thrown out of The Dungeon many a time for being ferociously stoned.

But, from what I've heard, Herr Herzog has not seen the original picture. I can't help but wonder if this was some sort of marketing stunt to (adding the "Bad Lieutenant") to make up for what is otherwise an incredibly clunky title.

Off topic, if you're looking for a stellar Southern-crime picture, check out In the Electric Mist With the Confederate Dead. It unfortunately went straight to DVD here in the States, but it's pretty damn cool.

I love Werner-- he's a personal hero of mine. Which makes all of this all the more frustrating for me. Especially the back and forth *****-fest between he and Ferrara-- I can only hope it's a publicity stunt because it's so unlike Werner. That man has always come across as humble, respectful and dedicated; that he'd change tune now is, to me, unthinkable.

I also question whether or not Werner has seen Bad Lieutenant-- one of those shots in that (dreadful) trailer strongly resembles the shot toward the end of the film where Lieutenant has the perps in his car. There's a POV from the perps of his gun in their face (it's the cover of the DVD).

Wow that's lame! First Predator, then Total Recall, now Commando. Man... they better not remake The Running Man.

I also just read they are apparently remaking The Highlander as well. (n)

Bad Lieutenant? I really like Herzog's films, so I'm a little surprised he's making this.
