Uncharted: The Games

By the way, for someone who took that long to write the NY Times review, he could have talked a lot more about the actual game than the fact that it made him want to buy a new TV.. he has a point, of course, but there is so much more to tell about the game besides the fact that it's graphical perfection and made of awesome in every way.. pretty bad review, if I say so myself.

None of those are mine, by the way. All you need to do in order brag to all your friends, is wander over in this direction. Cards are available for all the major characters.

I know I'm behind the times but I finally picked up a PS3 last month and now I'm working my way through the first game, which I wanted to play before the second one. It's definitely awesome and I can see why so many people love it. For an adventure junkie like me this is exactly the kind of game that I can get excited about.

Nah, you're not behind the times. I make it a point to never buy any consumer electronics until after they've been out for a while. When I finally picked up my PS3, it sat on the floor for a month before I installed it!

And as an often injurious aficionado of the action-adventure genre, Drake's Fortune was my primary reason for getting a PS3. Since traditional forms of entertainment have given up on the genre, it's refreshing to see somebody take the genre seriously since Indiana Jones & Lara Croft refuse to.

Trennas: Totally agreed on the NY Times review! But then, it's not a video game outlet; having the additional exposure is nice, but it's written for a general audience. Everybody who really cares has already bought "Among Thieves".

And I'm still only on Chapter 6 "Digging Up the Past" on Drake's Fortune.

Oh - and some clever bastard has mocked up Bruce Campbell as Scully!

No one saw that one yet? It's been out for over two weeks now I think. You can download it from gametrailers in high res if you register :)

Doesn't seem like it. I remember reading about it back in October, but only finally got around to watching it last night! Quite amusing, and I'd like to see more whenever they get around to releasing the entire thing.

You can also dl-it from the Playstation Network in HD; that's where I got mine -- in 1080p!

Are we back to being the only ones keeping this thing going?

One complaint: I can't stop to look around! While zipping around on the jetski, I wanted to stop and admire all the work ND put into the level!

Ehr, I'm fairly sure I got mine from gametrailers a while ago. The file on my hdd is not imaginary XD

Here is the link. Reason I downloaded it here was because it hadn't come out in the Europe PSN yet.

Yeah, I know what you mean XD Looking around made sure I played at least 2 hours longer than necessary. :p

Haven't played the single player in about a week...still in chapter 17.

But I've been having a blast playing multi player lately...although I suck at it.

Thanks for sharing that motion comic. I look forward to seeing the rest.

It's neither here nor there, but I was referring to the fact that nobody appears to have seen the motion comic yet. I'm quite certain your copy is real. :hat:

Just finished Drake's Fortune! Glad to know that Sully was "paying attention." Now I need to decide whether to play through it again, or pick up Among Thieves!

Oh, and for those of you who aren't interested in playing through what happened last time, Sony has put these together:

Glad to be of service! The next three episodes are supposed to be out "in November" with some sort of pack-in. I'm supposing this means they'll be charging for it...

I meant play, not pick up. I already own it.

Anyway, I found an interview with Amy Hennig from New York Magazine. It's a little dated (10/19), but still definitely worth a read.

You start with a bunch of research. Thank god for the Internet ? this used to be a lot harder when I had to go to the library. We knew we wanted to do something very different than a jungle island [where the first Uncharted was set].

Whip swing in this direction for the interview!

Before there was "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune", there was "Uncharted". I wonder if its received an accidental increase in sales. Boy, does it look bad.

Just made it to Locomotion. Seeing it again on my tv, it's just as impressive as it was on the big screen. I'll need to beat down a soldier soon, 'cause I forgot to drop the Dragon Sniper and pick up the AK. Well, at least I have the Pistole...

Update: If you haven't played "Among Thieves" lately, there was an update released over the weekend that included the new multi-player level, "The Fort"! No further DLC appears to have been announced, but Episode 2 of "The Eye of Indra" is available at the Playstation Store for the princely sum of ninety-nine cents. It also exists on Youtube, but only in videos people have taped from their tv; none of them have good image or sound quality.

Haven't played Uncharted 2 since I finished the single player campaign. Thanks for the heads up on the new DLC multiplayer map...looks great!

I do what I can, Ska! Glad you like it. But you're not the only one who hasn't played since beating the solo campaign; a lot of folks abandoned it as soon as Modern Warfare 2 came out. And some even sooner. I logged into the multi-player for the first time the other day, and there were barely five-thousand people on-line during prime hours. That's not good.

I would like to attend this, but I'm lacking the twenty-bucks. (n)

Also:

The following was posted on Naughty Dog's blog today (12/3), and is supposed to go into effect over the weekend. Link here.

Hey everybody ? a little while ago, we posted a poll here on NaughtyDog.com asking what playlists you would be interested in. The top two results were a ?Plunder Only? playlist and two variations on a ?Crushing? playlist. Well, we have some good news!

Based on this poll and other collected community input we have decided to try a couple things out. This weekend we are instituting a ?Plunder Only? playlist based on the overwhelming feedback and we?re making one other (temporary) change as well. Rather than add two new playlists at once we are going to try an experiment.

For this Experimental Weekend only, player health in ALL game types will be lowered to 65% of the current player health. This is exactly the same as the Crushing settings, only Boosters will still be allowed. The experimental weekend will run from Friday, December 4 at 10:00 AM PST (what time is that in my city?) through Monday, December 7 at 11:00 AM PST (what time is that in my city?).

We are very interested in hearing from our community on how you feel about this change. Give the various game types a try with these new settings and let us know how you feel by responding to this blog post and our upcoming front page poll.

Be assured we take community feedback very seriously and we can?t wait to hear what you have to say.

Thanks and see you in the game!

Do any of our European friends remember hearing about this? I completely missed it, and am curious as to how "canon" it is. This is the first time I have ever heard Elena's show called "Uncharted." I always assumed that the series gets its moniker 'cause the island from Drake's Fortune was uncharted.

Anyway, check out the Uncharted wikia over here. The page for Drake's Trail can be found over here.

Elena Fisher is filming some tombs in Egypt for her television show Uncharted, when she hears word that an explorer named Nathan Drake is onto something big. She wants to find Nathan so that she can film whatever he's after, but as she is too busy in Egypt to look for Drake herself, she hires you, an investigator, to track him down. She believes that he may have attracted some unwanted attention, and that he will therefore be covering his tracks. She gives you the address of Nathan's apartment in Key West, Florida to get you started.
[edit] 1 - Nathan Drake's apartment, Key West, Florida

You follow the address that Elena gave you, and enter Drake's waterfront apartment. After slipping past an attendant, you shove open his door to find his apartment in disarray after a break-in. Nathan is obviously away, so you decide to look around. On his desk are four cards, each of which has a number highlighted; you discover that the numbers, 1588, are the password to Drake's laptop. You look at his e-mails and see that he had to cancel a meeting with Elena because something big has come up, and it can't wait; he elusively hints that Elena should read up on Sir Francis Drake and his love of Spanish gold. He has also been in contact with Victor Sullivan; Nathan told Sully that after reading some old tax records, he believed Sir Francis had a large hidden stash of gold. He mentions how his apartment has been raided, and that whoever is after him has taken the manuscripts, so he has decided to head to Europe to continue his research. Sully is interested, but declines joining Nathan because he is worried about going on a wild goose chase. It appears that Drake has booked a flight with Aurora Air to Trondheim Vaemes via Amsterdam Schiphol. Lastly, Nathan has sent an e-mail confirming that he wishes to view the Kraus collection. You travel to Trondheim in Norway.
