What is healthy and what is not is the great question of our age. If all of the things that are labeled ?healthy? actually were healthy, we would have far less obesity and heart disease in the US. A granola bar with its high Carbohydrate count, and sugar, is less healthy than 3 strips of well cooked bacon. The affect on your body from the Carbs and sugar is a great deal more harmful than the affects of the fat from the bacon. The body needs fats, and most of what it doesn?t need is passes. Carbs and sugar are the enemy to your health and they are in just about everything that you will find in the grocery store that is labeled ?Healthy?. The main cause of heart attack and clogged arteries is not fats, it is how the body deals with sugar/carbs and the inflammation, high cholesterol, high triglycerides and Insulin Resistance that they cause. Sugar/Carbs are the root of most of the health problems in this country. Insulin Resistance, that leads to Type 2 Diabetes, coupled with the lack of physical activity is the main cause for the Obesity pandemic in this country. When the body takes in Sugar/Carbs and they are not burned as fuel, that sugar will begin to coat the cells in the body making it harder and harder for Insulin to penetrate the cell wall and allow glucose into the cell to be used as fuel, thus causing the cells to become Insulin Resistant. The lack of glucose in the cells sends a signal to your brain that your body is starved for sugar and your body will produce even more Insulin to try and open the now Insulin Resistant cells. The over production of Insulin causes all kind of trouble in the body because it tells the body to store fat and causes weight gain and leads to other problems like hormone imbalances. The lack of glucose in the cells due to their Insulin Resistance also triggers Sugar/Carb cravings, due to the brain telling your body that it is starved for Sugar. Now your in the vicious cycle of Metabolic Syndrome and your health and quality of life starts to deteriorate. From there it is a short trip to Type 2 Diabetes and heart disease and cancer. In order to stay healthy, you should stay active, regulate your Blood Sugar and keep it as low and as even as possible by eating foods that are high in Protein like Bacon, high in fiber and are low on the Glycemic Index.

I guess what I?m trying to say is that Bacon ain?t all that bad!

2nd last night of a 6 day trip to Walt Disney World, and there is a lot of great bacon here. It is a safe place to go.

There's a place in Cleveland called Crop, that, I don't know, likes local supplies or something. But they infuse a lot of their own alcohol for their cocktails, and they've got one called the Miss Figgy.
