Not very familiar with that comic series, but I liked the layout of Issue #8 so I took a crack at it :whip:

I wish I had planned it a little better, but I think I'm warming up to the comic style more and more. :D

Oh and please give me your thoughts on any art I submit, so I can improve (y)

This really depends on what you were trying to achieve.

As this looks like a fun, fast sketch there’s little to critique as I assume this is what you wanted.

However, in terms of improvement, I think the piece would have benefit with more time spent on underpinning the work, quality of line and bringing a little more dynamism.

To test yourself - maybe next time try to alter the angle of the image or drawing the scene one minute into the future.

A good way to move forward is to start studying and copy other artist. When you copy a drawing, you can begin to understand the process that they go through towards creating the finished image.

When I start drawing, many moons ago, I would examine in detail any and all artist’s work and try and replicate that work. When I copied the work I would ask myself why the artist did this or that, and why it works. Once I understand their processes I could then bring that to my own work.

Here's a sketch in Chakyin's style using what I gleemed from about how he puts together an image.

 Oops! Thanks JuniorJones! Further Adventures was a little before my time, again my apologies!

I agree, when I was done I realized a little planing would have made it better, but I really did enjoy doing this one. I actually intentionally tried not to copy the style, but in doing so it lost some of the flare. :( Oh well. What I meant by "comic book style" is that I'm trying to break away from portraits and do some more dynamic, wide scenes, not just faces.

Seeing it colored was unexpected but very nice of you! I actually intended to do the same on my computer and improve the dark areas a bit.

Thanks for the advice too, I used to love drawing, but my main interest switched to film and has gotten in the way of drawing for while. These threads have been a great excuse to burn a few hours working on a topic. Next, Mola Ram!

I figured there was no intent to copy the style but it does lose "Ka-pow"

I felt it was an unfair comparission with the original without the color.
