Hello fellow Indy fans,
Whenever I come across the first two still photos below, I see the most idealized version of Indy that seem different from how he looked on screen in Raiders. Indy?s clothing and gear looked so prototypical, like the hat with the taller crown, the darker jacket (maybe a factor of lighting) and the thicker stubble, that from the time I had the Raiders "collector's album" shortly after the movie was released, I assumed the photos were taken in pre-production.
Does anyone have background information on when and how they came to be photographed? For example, I?m guessing that the background is the Well of Souls set, though according to "Complete, Making of" book it wasn?t ready until after the first few weeks of shooting on Elstree began. Were they really promotional photos commissioned with a special photographer for that sole purpose? Were they taken for wardrobe tests? Or, were they taken impromptu in-between takes?
Thanks for any input!
