Very cool. Guess what? I'll be in Venice this weekend and have printed out your photos to bring with me! It seems that you've pretty much identified everything so there won't be anything new to discover but I can't wait to see the spots "in the flesh".

Indeed. MDew's brilliant work shows how much colour correction was done. It's also very likely that the crew shot with tinted filters, as well.

Stuff in Germany?

Hi MDew old buddy! I'm living in Germany for the next year, is there anything Young Indy related to check out? I see from the site that they usually had Prague or elsewhere in the Czech Republic, or Slovakia fill in for wartime Germany... can you think of anything they shot here? thx!

Congrats on the move, there's certainly plenty to see and do there! According to the filming schedule, they did shoot portions of "Trenches of Hell" in Germany, but I have yet to find specifically where.

Dig Recent Discoveries in Barcelona

Went back to beautiful Barcelona for my 3rd time this past November and made some new finds.

When Indy sees the ballet poster, he's standing on the east side of the Barcelona Cathedral on Carrer del Comtes, facing the tiny Plaça de Sant Lu.

The theatre entrance looks different because that building had a huge fire in January 1994 (just 2.5 years after they filmed there) and had to be rebuilt. The Gran Teatre del Liceu opened again in 1999. Its location is right on La Rambla between Carrer de Sant Pau & Carrer de la Unió.

More to come!

Awesome find, Stoo! Will add the info to the site. Was actually just thinking of Barcelona as a possible destination for my next trip.

Truly excellent scouting work. Sometime the Chronicles get pushed to the side. Thank you for sharing your incredible work.

Finally some updates!

It's been a while since I've had any activity on the locations site - it's admittedly not much, but pretty exciting!

Travelling to Prague

I'll be visiting Prague on business for the first week in June. My first trip to Eastern Europe, and don't think that this thread didn't help me say "yes!" when the opportunity presented itself. I should have evenings free to poke about, and I've booked a hotel in the Old Town.

So... who wants to compile a walking tour map of YIJC locations for me?

I'm planning a visit to Prague for later this year as well, so I'd also benefit from such a walking tour!

Ask and you shall receive! I don't know about actually WALKING to all of these places, but on the Downloads page on my site you'll find a Prague-specific Google kmz file.

Stoked for ya (and SUPER jealous)! Take LOTS of pictures - and keep an eye out for anything that hasn't been found yet!

Thanks MDew! I won't have much time to prep (life is crazy at the moment) but the map should be super-useful.

This reply might be a little late but if you're going to walk up the stairs towards Prague Castle (where the 'runaway cannon scene' was filmed), try your hardest to go on a clear day and get to the very top. Why? Because it's totally worth seeing the sun stream through the cathedral's enormous stained glass windows. It's like being inside a kaleidoscope.

Enjoy yourself. I've been to Prague twice and absolutely loved it both times...except when initially being unfamiliar with the Czech Koruna exchange rate. At one dodgy place on my first night, I got duped into paying $40 for a pack of cigarettes! Dumb tourist.

So I missed this message, and I didn't even notice a marker on the map for this location. But... as I was wandering about I ran into an awesome set of stairs and started down it, pausing halfway to take a non-location photo. It wasn't until I was reviewing MDew's site just now that I realized it was a location.

... and that's a wrap. Didn't really hit any more places; picked off a couple of train stations yesterday. Again lucked out and a random photo turned out to be a location shot (I wasn't checking MDew's site live)
