Yay for Galaxy Quest! When I saw it in cinemas I literally fell out of my seat laughing. 'Miners, you idiot! Not minors!' I'm laughing now :D

Sunshine was a great film until it went all Event Horizon in the last act. Otherwise I really enjoyed that film, and saw so many parallels to 2001: A Space Odyssey as far as the look, atmosphere, and tension.

Meh. It did not go Event Horizon and I resent that--many have voiced the same and it's just wrong so far as I see it. It remained perfectly in keeping with the religious themes and iconography throughout the earlier acts of the film. And that wonderful shot of Capa touching the sun, touching god, really sold it for me. Extremism is terrifying... the film just underscored that notion. It's a brilliant ending to a brilliant film.

You resent that? That's a little extreme man!

It's a good film, but the third act specifically Freddy Krueger's appearance was a bit much.:rolleyes: I liked the actual ending of the film, I just thought it deviated a bit off course before the end. I do plan on watching it again though considering I've only seen it once, to see if I feel different. Regardless Danny Boyle is an excellent director, and Alex Garland writes some dynamite stories!

Sure, resent. Comparing it to Event Horizon connotes a degree of mindlessness to it all. I think the ending was precisely executed; it has a sure-handed purpose and meaning that Event Horizon does not have.

Resent is still a pretty extreme reaction in my opinion. I'd understand you resenting the comparison if you directed Sunshine, but you're just a fan of the film like me!

I remember seeing The Last Starfighter for the first time as a kid with my family and we watched it again a few nights ago.

Star Wars Original Trilogy, Awesome films
Alien, Aliens, prefer the original, but both terrific
Star Trek: First Contact Really the only Great Star Trek of the first 10, for me.
Star Trek XI Took me by surprise
War of the Worlds 1952 Spielbergs vision started off well but went off course
Minority Report That's more like it
Sunshine I do like my space movies
The Matrix A revelation in it's day, still is
Serenity - One of the most overlooked awesome films out there, an adventure which easily matches Indy/Star Wars
2001: A Space Odyssey No explaination needed (or possible)
Moon A very nice little film
District 9 The Sci Fi is really not the point of this one but still the second half action is matched by few films
Starship Troopers brutally brilliant, certainly not for everyone
Invasion of The Body Snatchers 56 and 78, more like horror films though
Forbidden Planet an absolute GEM
