The vehicles of Young Indy

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I recently ran across a page on the Internet Movie Car Database (IMCDb) that attempts to identify the many vehicles seen in Young Indy. I thought it was a neat idea at least.

Very cool page! Thanks for posting the link, MDew.(y)

A couple of immediate notes:

unknown (Ch. 15)

One commentator says: "Autoblinda Lancia I.Z. or made for movie?"

This shot, and several others in "Daredevils of the Desert", was taken from the film "Lion of the Desert"* (which is about the late 1920s-early 1930s Italian campaign in Libya).

For several reasons, this armoured vehicle was ALMOST certainly custom made in the late '70s and meant to represent Lancia/Ansaldo's old Autoblinda.

*Released in 1981 but this film was stalled for a few years. It was ready to come out earlier (c.1979).

1948 GMC Pickup 1-ton (Ch. 20)

Years ago, I pegged Grey Cloud's** pickup as a 1949 GMC (but I could be wrong).

**I can offer convincing evidence to confirm that the pickup is, indeed, Grey Cloud's (and NOT Indy's).;)

Cars in Wyoming 1950 segment?

In the Wyoming, 1950 segment of Mystery of the Blues, what model/makes are the pick up Indy is driving and the car pursuing him?

Raiders112390, you could've asked this question in your other thread (which was active as recently as 2 months ago):

Wyoming, 1950

That said, I gave the info for the truck in this one (last year):

The vehicles of Young Indy

Maybe this thread could be merged with either of those?

:)

Thanks for the info about the villain's car, by the way.:hat: I knew that it was a Merc (the name and logo are right above the front grille) but didn't know precisely which year or model.

It's a nice looking machine and I like the crimson colour.

IMCDB has it listed specifically as '1949 Mercury Coupe 9CM-72'.

But I wasn't sure if the '72' designation was correct.

Here's
a database of post-war Mercury models.

This is the specific link to the '49 Coupe.

Neither am I. Thanks for the links, though.:hat:

Something I just realized: Since "Mystery of the Blues" takes place in 1950 and the GMC is a 1948, it sure has a lot of rust on it for a truck that is supposed to be only 2 years old!:p

P.S. Thanks for the merge, Moe.:)

meant to represent Lancia
Hadn't heard of this brand. Harrison Ford approves.
