What is your single LEAST favourite scene from the trilogy?

There isn't any scene, per se, that I don't like. However, I don't like the "I'm like a bad penny; I always show up" line from LC. I dunno. It just seemed kind of off. Oh, and I didn't like that tie he wore with his leather jacket, either. But truly, those are the only things I don't like in the trilogy. I'd have to wrack my brain for anything else.

The whole horrible "Teendy" sequence from Crusade. Awful, childish fan fiction that should have remained nothing but footage shot as a joke. All it "missed" was Young Marion, Lil' Belloq and the creepy, leather-clad foreign exchange student Arnold "Toht" Belzig...

Its a forced attempt at Humphrey Bogart-style cynicism, I agree.

I really like the fact that they play on the iconic outfit in Raiders in the sequels. It helps gives the sequels their own identity and cements that they're not carbon copy rip-offs.

I'll agree with what oki9Sedo has to say about the tie. I'm a big fan, but I'm also someone who sees a lot more in Last Crusade than many do, so you're entitled to your opinion.

The "bad penny" line - I don't know, I feel like it even goes beyond cynicism to be an ironic response. Elsa's trying to act suitably dismayed and emotionally whatever, and he's not going to have any of it; he's perfectly happy to give her no better than a cliche and move on.

I really don't have a problem with any of the films. Maybe a bad effects shot (like the plane crashing into the mountain in TOD) but I love all of them. I actually broke up with 2 girls in college because they hated TOD and it's my favorite!!!

I thought the plane crash shot was fine myself.

The synchronisation of the Venetian librarian's stamping with Indy's bashing of the floor is a bit hard to take.

Also, any scenes that try to extract humour from the Nazis (e.g. the collapsible coat hanger, the inadvertant book-signing. Some subjects just aren't funny.)

But boy do I love these films in almost all other respects! :)

Well the style of humour is similar in both scenes. Both very prolonged, very tense moments....and then the tension goes like air from a balloon with a comic moment to relieve it.

I would argue that its easy to laugh at humour derived from the Nazis being hurt or killed in these films (eg. "Oh, sheisse!" during the truck chase; Indy biting the German mechanic, the soldiers all being knocked off the truck during the chase sequence), simply because its so easy to laugh at evil people getting hurt.

The only bit in the trilogy that I don't like is whenever they used dolls to represent Indy, Willie, and Short Round in TOD.

I loved the entirety of Last Crusade, believe it or not. I can't find a fault with it. I realize that you all have your opinions on the matter, but I just don't seem to feel that way.

I don't know, the speedboat chase doesn't set my world on fire. Those aerial masts, huge gravel piles and warehouses in the background don't exactly help with the 1938 setting.

I unfortunately think Last Crusade was the weakest link and watch it the least. The whole movie feels like the "Porky?s" movie compared to the tone of the rest of the movies. It's just action, joke, action, joke, action... blah, blah, blah. It just seems like they wanted to have a everything in it because they thought it was going to be the "Last" movie but they sacrificed so much character development at the expense of a laugh. Raiders will always be my favorite. I just hope they rectify Last Crusade with this movie.

It has the most character development of the three, surely. The father-son stuff.

Maybe... I say maybe because its all done tongue-in-cheek. I read where Lucas said the Grail was not a great Mcguffin so he had to enhance the story with the Father/Son storyline (So even he feels like it was missing something). I just feel like it was all wham-bam-thank-you-mam, with no real story behind it. I'd place Raiders in the same line of Casablanca, a classic film with a real story that resonates with the audience. Crusade feels like cheap porn in my book; sure its fun to watch but it leaves you hollow after watching it. And my favorite character in film is Indy, so this isn't a stab at the character just the film.

definitely the dining scene in ToD for me. i didn't think it was even remotely gross because you could tell the stuff was fake (except for the snakes they swallowed, which I'm still not sure how they did), but i thought it was demeaning to indians. after all, the majority of indians, such as the merchants and others, were supposed to be the protagonists and thus deserved a little respect. if they had thuggees eating sh!t, they i wouldn't care, but these were the good guys, excepting chatter lal. besides, i've eaten indian food at some of my best friend's houses, as a matter of fact i'm going to one's house tomorrow night, and the food is very delicious and anything but gross.

I've always disliked the transformation of Indy into a Kali slave (or whatever you want to call him) in TOD. Now, when he's under the "Black Sleep of Kali," and gets turned back, that's different. I always just hated seeing him convulse on that stone slab.(n)

The Marion/ Belloq in the tent scene.

I dug that scene because it fleshed out Belloq. Sure, he was a bad guy but it made him human and relatable. I mean sure, he was nefarious and evil but at least he didn't want Toht to hurt Marion. He just wanted some love.;)

You maybe are missing great moments because of the jokes... and the jokes, much of them where very good!
I really enjoy Last Crusade, i can't find many weak moments, the action and scenes flow so well!
TOD has great scenes, but many lows in my opinion.
