"I'm back FROM the future!"

"I strongly suspect the next movie is going to take place in a [pre-Judgment Day] 2011," McG reveals. "John Connor is going to travel back in time and he's going to have to galvanize the militaries of the world for an impending Skynet invasion. They've figured out time travel to the degree where they can send more than one naked entity. So you're going to have hunter killers and transports and harvesters and everything arriving in our time and Connor fighting back with conventional military warfare, which I think is going to be f*cking awesome. I also think he's going to meet a scientist that's going to look a lot like present-day Robert Patrick [who famously played the T-1000 in Terminator 2], talking about stem-cell research and how we can all live as idealized, younger versions of ourselves."

Action is the keyword for this movie, which of course most people who goes to see this franchise will be expecting. I found that it had a little too much action, so that our characters wasn?t told in a way, that we could really bond with them. It lacked some more small moments of quiet interaction. The effects, however, are well done. Theres a bunch of new Terminators, very nice high tech stuff.. It?s a barren world, after the nuclear attacks. It contrasts nicely with the future we see in Terminator 2, where it is all night scenes. In this movie, there are not that many night scenes, and it just feels right, to show the world in this battleworn way, in full daylight.

All in all I came out of the cinema with the belief that we may still have great stories from the Terminator universe, and that we at least have a fine piece of action movie, with the potential for a good story arc.

Sound quite good. Quite a relief ;)

I wonder how the Schwarzenegger cameo will be filled in, knowing that the FX guys only good their 'good to go' from Schwarzenegger a week or two ago and the film's now finished... Either they had their footage completed for his permission or they had to work some heavy nights of crunch... :)

I got my copies of 'The art of Terminator: Salvation' and the film's visual guide in the mail this week but I haven't dared to leaf too much through it because they're filled with spoilers...

Christian Bale dishes on the movie and more...

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=55457

Q: Can you talk about how you collaborated with McG on your character?
Bale: Initially collaboration was just me saying, "No, I didn't want to do the movie." Then it was, "Why?" When people look at the franchise mythology and think it's over, you've got to come back with something that really knocks people out. I just didn't feel like it was there, but that wasn't just me. Everybody felt that. I really couldn't see that it wouldn't be able to get there. It just seemed crazy to me, like it wouldn't be possible. So I took a leap of faith because it was the right strike in everything they were saying. So alright, let's have a few points that we want to get across in another script that we want to be written and fine. Let's go after that. Of course a movie is collaboration, but a director has to have his own point of view. That is a director's job. He creates the point of view and he must have a strong point of view. He has to. He can't be wishy washy. He creates a rhythm. You can't have too many chiefs. He's obviously very open to ideas, but I like it when I'm hearing great ideas and then I'm just adding onto it making it something extra.

Q: What was your reaction when you saw it all put together?
Bale: I saw a few different variations like any movie. It goes through a lot of different shapes. Ultimately, the last one I saw I really felt satisfied. The public will decide. This isn't a movie that you sit down and watch as a personal 2AM viewing. It's not something in which you sort of gaze into the human soul and speak to you that way. It's a movie that's meant to be watched with a lot of different people and get that common energy. Movies like this are much like sports. It's that feeling of a common excitement throughout the theater. That's what I loved about seeing "T2" I felt like I think we might have a chance here. People will decide, but I think we might have a chance here of maybe revive this and be able to move on. We'll see what happens with any future movies if this one does well enough.

No boobs in Terminator...

McG has said that he cut a topless scene of Moon Bloodgood from Terminator Salvation because it felt "gratuitous" when he looked at it during the edit.

The director revealed that the scene was originally inspired by a moment of tenderness in Witness starring Kelly McGillis and Harrison Ford, Si Fi Wire reports.

McG said: "It just felt like: 'Oh, there's the genre stunt of the good looking girl taking her top off.' It felt counterproductive in the spirit of what we were looking to achieve on a storytelling level.

"I suspect it will be on the DVD. I don't know, ask Moon. She was very passionate in sort of a third-wave feminist take on the whole thing. It was a fun conversation to have."

He added to WENN: "I didn't want people to have a reason to say, 'I can't take this film that seriously. They're still playing grab-ass and the film's made by a bunch of teenagers who just want the boob shot.'"

The director had previously said that he would not remove the half-naked scene in order to receive a lower age classification for the movie from the MPAA.
