With a worldwide gross already around $315 million, it tells me lots and lots of people are glad Indy's back. (y)

That this film might have some serious legs, and top out at $350 million domestic and near $800 million worldwide!! So far so good!(y)

The overseas numbers are only from the weekend. Indy is doing well. Even though the box office for the other films were good they were never like Star Wars. I think this'll do about $315 million here and $400-450 abroad. Those are excellent numbers. People don't see films multiple times like they used to. I remember being a kid and seeing a movie for $1.75, now a matinee is $7.50 and there's 3 times more summer blockbusters than there used to be when the others came out.

True about the repeated viewings and ticket prices. Though I personally try to see something I really like at least a few times to help support it. I'm seeing KOTCS for a third time this Sunday, and hopefully a few more. I only saw the previous films once each, and who knows if I'll ever get to see Indy on the big screen again. :)

The next movie I have lined up to maybe see is Hancock, but that's not until July, so between now and then, it's all about Indy and the crystal skull for me. (y)

I'm with you on 3.5 domestically. IJKCS is a contender. Temple is at $ 179 million, and Last Crusade is $197 million. Raiders is $ 242 million.

How close can IJKCS get to Raiders? Will they beat the numbers?

This is all domestically speaking, mind you.

Oh come on... Sex and the City took out KOTCS for Friday's gross! That sucks!!! I really hope it doesn't win the weekend spot, that would be disappointing!!(n)

Think about: SATC is like the female Indy 4 is terms of anticipation. It could gross 65-70 million this weekend, as much as it pains me to say.

SATC is probably the biggest surprise of the summer.

I really find it hard to believe that SATC has that much of a fanbase. It is a 2 1/2 hour R-rated comedy that only plays to women and gay men.

What's really funny though is SATC's budget of $60 million.

It's a foolproof fanbase though cause, critically, the film is tanking at rottentomatoes.com...

SATC was expected to have a big Friday from early ticket sales but from the data I saw it was only Friday that would get big numbers. Families will go see Indy Sat & Sun.

But all the girls have to drag their boyfriends/husbands to see it, plus girls between the ages of 14-21 love the show too. And then there is the gay men thing

So it actually has a very large fanbase, as the numbers clearly show.

But I'm definitely not one of them (n)

That's exactly how I feel. I don't know one woman (or especially a straight man) who watches this show and I certainly wouldn't g to a theater to see it. We'll see. If it beats Indy then it's proof that civilization is ending. :D

That's just for Friday. From what I saw this film sold out huge online in NY, LA and SF (go figure). When the rest of the country takes their families to see Indy today and tomorrow because they were out of town last weekend we'll see the numbers go up.
