The Search for Alexander the Great's Tomb would be good subject matter for 4

I'm sure the storyline and subject for the 4th Indy film has been decided but I was thinking of how cool it would be to make the 4th film--the search for Alexander the Great's tomb/body. It disappeared after 400 A.D. after having been on display in Alexandria, Egypt for almost 600 years. It's disappearnace has baffled archaeologists. Indiana would have to travel to Rome, many parts of Greece, Turkey, Babylon (Iraq), Afghanistan, possibly India, the Levant (Syria, Israel, Lebanon) and most certainly Alexandria, Memphis, and Siwah Egypt. How Nazis and other "enemies" would intervene i do not know but I'm sure it would be interesting. If not for a 4th Indy maybe a 5th! (y)

Agreed. That'd be a pretty interesting quest. A lot of attached mythology, too.
There have been a lot of claims that the tomb has been found recently, mostly by a half-crazy Greek Archaeologist without anything better to do but claim she's found the thing...

Course, there are a lot of problems. While we have a pretty good record of where the body was for several centuries, not to mention how it ended up in Egypt, there's still a huge conflict of details about HOW the body was prepared.

One source says he was mummified, another says that he was preserved in a glass coffin filled with honey. Then we have, for example, a story that Caligula stole his breastplate, and that Carcalla tried to kiss him for good luck and ended up breaking his nose...

So who knows? I'm sure it's out there. At least relics -have- to be. Pieces of Alexander's life were venerated in the ancient world like pieces of Saints in the medieval Church.

But it's something I'd -love- to find. Somehow, I still dream of wandering through the catacombs beneath Alexandria and finding it.

Nah, Uncle Scrooge already found it.

With all those locations I would think that the tomb plot would be better suited for an adventure game.

It wasn't a strictly Xbox game as it was also ported to PC and PS2.

True. But you could make something up like it sank or something. Or was moved. By moved, meaning the documents were taken and a new library was built.

Already done. See "National Treasure";)

I'd rather stab myself in the eyes repeatedly with a rusty fork than watch an Indiana Jones film where he searches for Alexander The Great's tomb. Who the **** cares about a loser like that? They got Colin Farrell to play him in the film - enough said.

What thrilling quest you gonna suggest next - Indy pulls out his toothbrush and goes head to head with Tony Robinson's geophysics specialists in the hugely antcipated rollercoaster smash 'Indiana Jones IV & The Time Team at Tea Time'?

How about William the Conqueror's tomb?

"His corpulent body would not fit in the stone sarcophagus, and burst after some unsuccessful prodding by the assembled bishops, filling the chapel with a foul smell and dispersing the mourners."

Maybe he looked at the ark...

I don't know if it's fair to call him a "loser" he only conquered most of the then known world by 32!, founded 33+ cities, introduced Western ideals and philosophy which brought about the Hellinistic period that ended with Cleopatra Philopater and overcame many, many, obstacles in doing so. I do think Colin Farrell was probably not the best choice to portray him but surely not the worst.
