Preproduction in January 2011. Production in June ( right around the 30th anniversary date of the Raiders 1981 release) thru August. Release in May 2012.

The whole "fate" of Indy 5 was and is if the script can be finalized to meet those dates.

Hiring a writer might help, unless that's been done and has somehow remained a secret.....

If the dates you mention are accurate, why are they immovable deadlines?

And if this is unquestionably Indy's last big screen adventure, the only reason I can imagine why is that his character will be taken out of the equation. Death, ascension, assimilation, whatever.

Tell us, that the making of the movie is ongoing, don't tell us anything about the story, but let us frequently know, that there is really a progress with Indy 5

I'm so with you on this. That's what I've been begging for since the comments were first made about Indy 5 beginning with KOTCS's release.

Again, if any of this is true, what about this bit:

this will be a blockbuster made in the old fashioned way rather than the CGI efforts of the last movie

That could mean that our complaints were actually heard and are being taken seriously. Or it could be hollywood-ese for "slashed budget". Or wait, would that mean it would be more expensive to make? Hmmmmm.

The Bermuda Triangle does sort of ring true; it's sounds like the same sort of thought process that got to KOTCS... I'll be cautiously optimistic about this one...

Maybe it has been mentioned already and I missed it, but Paramount is denying this. So is a Spielberg spokesman, who called the story a false rumor--he went on to say that any Indy V script is still in development stage and "definitely will not be filming next year."

Couldn't find these, got some links?

Edit: found it

Paramount denied the report and a spokesman for director Steven Spielberg told TheWrap that the rumor was "false," adding that the project is still in the "research phase" and "will definitely not be filming next year."

So wth? If the previously mentioned timeline is accurate, and Spielberg's mouthpiece isn't lying through his teeth about "definitely not be filming next year".....no more Indy, right? So why bother with the "development phase" bit?

It's a pretty specific full denial. I'll admit that the conflicting information combined with my lust for more Indy movies is clouding my rationale a bit.

Somebody set me straight.

That doesn't mean a thing.

It's the first response to the story from a higher source:

It stinks of hoax, or a leak they're trying to stem. But if it was true they'd look pretty bad later when it was announced officially.

Let's assume for a moment that this is real and have some fun with it.

Yes, let?s have some fun! If this is all true then...

I?m a believer in what I call the ?Turn Theory.? ROTLA was a joint effort, ToD was Lucas? turn, LC was Spielberg?s turn, KOTCS was Lucas? turn, and now I believe Indy 5 will be...Spielberg?s turn one last time.

Lucas had his ideas for Indy 4?s focus as we all know, but Spielberg had developed a different set of ideas for the fourth installment to the point of allegedly working on a script with ROTLA writer Kasdan.

It might seem appropriate to assume that now that Lucas? ideas are out of the way, Spielberg would want return to his previous work with some tweaks to answer for a new status quo for the characters.

The following is a construction of tweaked rumors from Moedred?s archives and rejected screenplays (?tweaks? are signified by brackets). But first!

Backdrop

From Wikipedia.org
1.) [The Bermuda Triangle] is also a heavily flown route for commercial and private aircraft heading towards Florida, the Caribbean, and South America from points north.

2.) 1959 February 16 Fidel Castro becomes Premier of Cuba.

Part II - Spielberg Rumors Tweaked!
(Original rumors found here http://moedred.livejournal.com/6941.html)

*?Tweaks? made to archived rumors are signified by brackets!*

October 29, 1999- Spielberg said Indy-[5] would have another biblical theme to it. He then went on to say that the "powers that be" thought a story about the Garden of Eden would be a good plot.

May 1, 1998- Plot will be set in [late] 1950's, with Indy & [son] running into [Cuban Socialists] in South America? The [Cuban Socialists] have located where the Garden of Eden is located, and there is a race to get there first to find the Tree of Life?Indy enlists the help of several old friends along the way.

July 26, 2006 - The story was that the [Cuban Socialists] felt that the Tree of Life would make them more powerful than the US and thus they could take over the world with their Communist ideaology.

The story ended with Indy having to blow up the gateway to the Garden...hint, the Garden wasn't on Earth [but miles under the surface of the ocean, hidden by the mysterious Bermuda Triangle]. The story more or less was a mixture of Stargate, Doom, Saucermen from Mars, and a few other movies, but with Indiana Jones.

October 29, 1999 - Indy would be killed in the next film trying to save the world because it will be the last Indy film ever. They want him to go out with a bang.

May 1, 1998 - Dad [Indy] dies at movies' end, declining to eat from the tree, instead opting for the great adventure of the afterlife.

Part III-Resurrecting Old Scripts, Old Support, and Indy!

Just because Indy dies, doesn?t mean he STAYS dead. Everyone here knows that the Beards love to dig through rejected scripts and recycle cherished concepts that never made it to film!

Tweaked passages from the rejected script Indiana Jones and the Monkey King:

?Tweaks? to script passages are signified by brackets!

INT. WALL

The procession ascends a TWISTING STONE STAIRCASE, that spirals
upward, where the light becomes BRIGHTER... BRIGHTER... At the
stairway top, there is ANOTHER DOORWAY. [Mutt] and the others ENTER.
Indiana's body is CARRIED through.

THE GARDEN OF [EDEN]!

A breathtakingly beautiful forest of never ending luscious green
trees, filled with succulent, ripe [otherworldly FRUIT]. We have never seen COLORS like this. So MAGICAL...so INTENSE... Bright SUNLIGHT shines from a vivid blue sky. There is always a RAINBOW here. The procession ENTERS. [Our heroes] stare in total WONDERMENT, PUZZLED by the bright sunlight.

[Mutt] LEADS the procession to a clearing in the garden. [There] rests the LARGEST [FRUIT] TREE in the forest. It is much WIDER and TALLER than the others.

A few MOMENTS pass. Then...a thick, white cloud ECLIPSES the sun. A
small hole in the cloud, allows one RAY OF SUNLIGHT to shine through.
The ray shines down upon ONE PARTICULAR...TREE.

[The ethereal beam whirls into the billowing form of a man ? a SPIRIT and] he is UNLIKE anyone or anything we have ever seen. There is a
STRONG, POWERFUL presence about him. He is indeed, a HEAVENLY FIGURE.

[The spirit] LOOKS over the congregation. Everyone FALLS to their
knees [as the figure] PACES through the clearing. He LOOKS [at Indy?s lifeless body].

He is DISTRESSED. TROUBLED. His [luminescent] face twists into FURIOUS
expression. He SCREAMS. His old voice CREAKS and GROANS.

SPIRIT
This is a garden of life... Not of death!...

He RAISES his [hands] to the sky.

SPIRIT (CONT?D)
Return [his] soul!... I demand
it!... Return [his] soul!

[The spirit] TURNS [and points toward the enormous fruit tree from before]. Suddenly, several [pieces of fruit] magically FLY from the trees. They congregate ABOVE the [spirit]. The [fruit] SPIN in midair. With quick movements of [his translucent hands, the spirit] SENDS several [pieces of fruit] flying OFF SCREEN.

CAMERA FOLLOWS the magical [fruit] as they...FLY...[t]oward [INDY?S DEAD BODY]. When the [fruit] MAKE CONTACT with [his] dead bod[y],
there is a small, colorful EXPLOSION. A small FIREWORKS display. [Indy?s body] erupt with a BRIGHT GOLDEN GLOW. A few moments PASS.

[Indy?s body] STIRS. MOVES. The wound in Indy's chest VANISHES. His eyes POP OPEN. To the delight of his friends, Indy STANDS. ALIVE. He is
PUZZLLED. [Mutt and friends] SHOWER him with EMBRACES and KISSES.

[The spirit], looking very PLEASED with himself, stands BEHIND Indiana.
[Mutt] POINTS to behind Indy, who TURNS and sees the smiling [otherworldly figure]. Indy is at first SHOCKED... His face breaks into a CHILDLIKE SMILE...filled with DELIGHT. He then manages to UTTER...

INDIANA
You... You're... DAD?...

[The spirit] STEPS FORWARD, [the winds of existence constructing the familiar face of HENRY JONES SENIOR]. He nods and ANSWERS.

HENRY
Yes, boy. In this moment, I AM.

September 9, 2009 - A source said: "Steven Spielberg has been working on a script with George Lucas and there is an element of the story that could see Sean returning. Anything is possible in these movies and if Sean wants to return he will become central to the new story."

If they don?t start filming in 2011 then maybe they will start filming in 2012 for a 2013 release date. I realize that every year they push the film it becomes less likely to happen but moving things out a year is not that big a deal. The fact that they are still developing it and haven?t said "no" means that there still is a chance.

Shame about the official denial, I was getting hopeful. Is the denial itself definitely 100% :)?

Surely it is next year or never, given Ford's years.
