"Raiders" inspired series from the 80s loses one of its stars

Actor Jeff Mackay, who portrayed Corky on the "Raiders of the Lost Ark" inspired show called "Tales of the Gold Monkey", passed away n August 22nd at the age of 60 in Tulsa, Oaklahoma. The actor, a cousin to screen star Robert Redford, played Corky the sidekick mechanic to the pilot hero, Jake Cutter. Described on the show as a "little slow on the uptake", Corky always managed to get Jake's Gruman Goose up in the air just in the nick of time to escape blood-thirty natives, pre-WWII Nazi and Japanese villians. The actor was also a favorite on other shows produced by Gold Monkey producer Donald Bellasario and Glen Larson shows like Magnum P.I. (with would be Indy Tom Selleck), JAG and even Battlestar Galactica, the original series in 1978.

Sadly, TV ShowsonDVD.com reports that plans for a proper box set of the "Gold Monkey" is still delayed, and now sadly will not have a chance to have actor Jeff MacKay provide any commentary on the shows.

We offer our condolences to the family of Mr. MacKay and thank him for providing such entertainment over the years with his performances.

Just noticed this article on the main page of TheRaider.net! What a fun show that was and MacKay was very likeable as Corky.
Let's keep our fingers crossed for a DVD boxed set someday. About 10 years ago, I was scouring the net looking for episodes
to buy/trade and found a group of hardcore "Tales of the Gold Monkey" fans. They had a small convention at a hotel somewhere
and Jeff MacKay was invited. He showed up and brought his own home photos from working on the series. Nice treat for those fans.

R.I.P. Jeff MacKay
