I´m so sick of this momentary Hollywood-illness called "Reboot"... Where is your god damn fantasy?!

They'll reboot fast, f*ck it up to perfection, let it die, then wait a few years until somebody remotely passionate comes along to 'reboot' it properly. Again...

Oh, come on, people. Reboots are not always bad. Look at JJ Abrams's Star Trek, the Incredible Hulk, Casino Royale, even Nolan's Bats. All turned out to be fantastic movies that breathed new life into characters that were stuck in a slump of popularity. Though, of course, your mileage may vary on all of these... Personally, I get excited for reboots because it is a chance to see what someone else can do with beloved characters, and possibly bring them into unexplored areas of storytelling.

But there are certain ground rules to reboots, one of which is making sure, for God's sake, to be respectful to what came before. That's the biggest rule that Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin broke with their Godzilla, as they specifically stated in interviews that they greatly disdained the original Japanese beastie. Cue hordes of fans automatically turning Emmerich and Devlin into demonic monsters...within their minds.

Momentary? Hollywood? Re-boots happen all the time. The Arthurian legend as we know it today formed through a series of medieval reboots. My only objection is how quickly Hollywood reboots series, like the Hulk and Spiderman.

If they keep on rebooting things, then the stories and characters are never going to get developed. At least give the character the chance of a story arc before taking them all the way back to the start!

Why not? (As long it isn't Robin's T&A, unless Robin is rebooted as a girl!) ;)

Damn! Amazingly, you have convinced me. Bring forth the boobies and buttocks!

Ra's al Ghul returns? Younger? Thus implying that the Lazarus Pits do exist in the Nolanverse?

No, I think the article (or another one, maybe) stated it would be flashbacks set about 30 years before the film.

I appreciate Nolan's decision to keep continuity among the smaller parts, its something that doesn't often happen in big franchise films...

Looks like Nestor Carbonell will be back in Gotham City as mayor ? the actor is in talks to join the cast of The Dark Knight Rises. He?s one more small piece of the puzzle that Christopher Nolan is starting to assemble, and joins other returning cast members Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman. Variety also reports that Diego Klattenhoff and Burn Gorman are likely additions to the supporting cast.

I just don't understand the casting decision for Rachel in TDK. Maggie Gyllenhaal(sp?) looks nothing like Katie Holmes.

Perhaps he was going for talent over looks...?

If that were the case, he wouldn't have chosen Katie Holmes... would he?

To be clear, it's not that I am criticizing him for picking a less attractive leading lady (though, to be sure, he did... at least in my opinion). It's just that if he is going for continuity, like you have suggested, I don't understand why he would pick an actress who has a rather... unique face, I guess. There are plenty of actress who look more like Katie Holmes.

I can't think of any scenes where Maggie's acting skills really shined through in TDK. And when it comes to Maggie, I'm not really seeing it. There's a similarity... but only barely. Ultimately, we should be blaming Katie for dropping out. I imagine that now she sees how successful it was, she may wish she'd done it after all.

But if Morgan Freeman drops out of this one, maybe Nelson Mandela can pick up the role of Lucius Fox.
