Still working on this...

It's looking familiar LOL!

Hey, Are you going ot open up the bottom? I am thinking about taking mine off the Akator Base and making the actual burial chamber from the movie...Then add my Akator chamber to my 2 1/2' tall Akator playset. Since I am working on the Crystal skeleton throne room.

I'm really enjoying all the work on display here. Special thanks for the tips on constructing LEDs!

Excellent work, especially on the crates CommanderDude !

A quick update on my progress with the Ark Ghost diorama. Electronics are all in place as can be seen from the picture below. Everything is "soft-connected" at the moment - which basically means I still have some soldering to do :) Additionally, I'll be trimming down the wiring and the LED "stalks" so that everything sits a little better.

<a href="http://s29.photobucket.com/albums/c273/inky_skin/?action=view&current=ark.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c273/inky_skin/ark.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

1) CR-type "coin" battery holder which should give me 6V - the same output as the entire battery pack on the Kali Altar diorama piece; 2) 3mm "Ultra Bright" White LED; 3) On-off switch; 4) 3mm "Ultra Bright" Blue LED (for variety);

I've also done some test casts with the clear resin - just waiting for it to cure. The "Ark Ghost" will eventually be based off the Star Wars "Rabe" figure, albeit heavily customised.

As you can see from the pic, the test casting in clear resin was a success (right - original, left - resin repro). When lit with a LED the skull glows nice and bright - really picking out the detail (but impossible to photograph !).

All I have to do now is finish sculpting the Ark Ghost, make a mold and cast from it.

Okay, so I've been waiting for parts to arrive in order to complete my minecart diorama - and I've been itching to do something to fill the time.

A lot of you (and me as well) have noted how cool an alter from the Temple of Doom would be. So, with a little planning I decided to see if I could fit electronics inside a dio to push it that bit further. No word of a lie - this is probably the most complex and challenging build I've done - but in the end, I'm really happy with the result.

Kali mar...

Inky_skin, I'm really looking forward to seeing your finished Ark Ghost. The head looks amazing!

Do you have plans of making a interchangeable angel face?

inky_skin, your work is great especially the mine cart and this is just as nice. Between yourself and glorbes the bar has been raised.

Has anyone ever attempted to do some models/dioramas using 1/35 scale Tamiya kits? (I used to build those.)
In my dreams, it would cool to do a flying wing airfield, the truck chase, Jock's plane, etc...
What scale are these Indy figures?

I wonder what ever happened to the pre-production model of the Tanis dig that you see on the bonus DVD?

You know, I hadn't before now - but that's a great idea. The "Rabe" figure I'm planning to use as a base for the custom already has a female face on it that I was going to replace with the skull - I may well do a cast with it intact first.

I'm taking another shot at the Last Crusade tank:

My first one is being auctioned off to make room for this one...'cause this new one's for keeps. My main objective with the second pass here is to have a slightly smaller and more accurate scale, with more accurately shaped treads and side gun ports that can actually be accessed from the inside of the tank. I'm also going to add more detail to the interior this time. I promise my next Indy project will be a new vehicle. Any suggestions? :D

Awesome work, glorbes! It looks like you've done a little customizing to your Vogel there, as well. I'd love to see a close up shot of him with the screen-accurate armband and goggles if you've got the time to post one. :) Keep those great customs coming, man! :hat:

EDIT: Whoops, just saw the pics in the Custom Figures thread. That's what I get for reading bottom to top. ;) Awesome paint job you've done there.

You guys are so impressive. That tank looks amazing already. I only hope that Hasbro can pull it off half as well someday! Great job on Vogel, also!

Glorbes, and everyone else, your work is incredible. May I suggest Short Round's car, that would be incredibly tight.

Thanks for the comments on the tank everyone.

How about Jock's biplane?

I thought of doing either this or the Biplane from Last Crusade. I've also considered doing the Ford Trimotor from Temple of Doom, but it would have to be huge to be even close to scale...I'm talking like twice the size of the Flying Wing, I think.

As always, great work glorbes. I was thinking about scale issues, and my approach (as these are essentially display pieces), is to start building specific sections of these vehicles eg, the cockpit of the Ford Trimotor (I'm trying this with The Locust from The Rocketeer), or the gun turret from the Last Crusade Biplane. At the moment, I'm building a seaplane float for a certain other custom to sit on while fishing...
