Nostalgia for ROTLA - 30 years old in 2011

Well, it's hard to believe but ROTLA will be 30 years old this June - truly amazing. I remember first seeing this as a kid on it's theatrical release in 1981 and being blown away. At the time, there really was no other movie out there quite like this, and IMHO it did for the action/adventure genre what the original SW had done for the sci-fi genre four years before.

I also remember reading the Marvel Super Special comic adaptation of Raiders at around the same time, so this is tied to my memory of the film in some ways.

I'm currently reading The Complete Making of Indiana Jones (2008), which is a great detailed chronicle of the making of these films. There is a large section on Raiders, and reading this really takes me back to the early '80's when the film was being produced - this also goes into some detail on the great reception it received on it's original theatrical release.
