Anything Goes vs. Anything Goes

I was thinking we should do a debate about the Anything Goes revivals from 1987 and 2011. I chose this musical because of the song "Anything Goes" being in TOD. I personally prefer the 1987 musical. I enjoy Patti's voice to Sutton's, and it seems more 30's to me. I love all the songs in the musical from that version, and I like "Anything Goes" and "Blow Gabriel Blow" from the 2011 version. So what do you guys think?

As a devout follower of all things Sutton, I can't comment objectively. However, I will offer this: I sat front row center last year and can say honestly that I prefer Sutton's handling of the role over Patti's - and I'm a big fan of Patti.

I've probably seen both of them the same number of times over the years (different shows) but I buy into the character much more when it's Sutton. She IS Reno. I'd definitely put Sutton's dancing over Patti's. Particularly in the title number.

I did not see Block in the role, so I can't comment on her handling of it.

Isn't Sutton moving to TV?
