In other words, they all got more impressive action secquences than their predecessors.kongisking said:I actually think that the two Matrix sequels are superior to the first film, and T2 is one of THE finest films ever made...ever. LOTR: Return of the King absolutely deserved every single Oscar it received; Empire Strikes Back was a big bump up as far as quality (only to instantly nosedive again with Jedi...); Spider-Man 2 is still the best superhero movie of all time.
A few more favs of mine are The Lost World: JP, Terminator 3 (funny how when this flick came out, the critics adored it for the most part, and yet now the movie has gained a crappy and undeserved reputation...that says alot about moviegoers nowadays... ), Batman Returns (dig DeVito's whack-a-mole Penguin! Classic!), X2, and FF: Rise of the Silver Surfer (man, that movie is as close to a good-ol' fashioned Stan Lee-Jack Kirby story that we will ever get! I LOVED IT!)

I've noticed too on some of the lists here, movies that are remakes and third installments of a series? If you google great movie sequels, you'll find websites list remakes and third installments too, curious? I always thought a sequel was technically only the second installment.
