Ever have something or someone ruin a good song?

Like not being able to enjoy The Proclaimers anymore because of Shrek? Or Lonely Boy because of Colin Cowherd? Or Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) because of Seinfeld?

. . .and yes, I'm embarrased by picking old examples but give me a few minutes.

It's happened so many times here. And not always by movie or t.v. Sometimes a cover of a beloved song can do it too, like Billy Corrigan doing Fleetwood Mac's Landslide.

I too will come back with more examples.

That scene was critical in the plot/character development in Lost Boys! And besides who the hell ever listened to that song in the first place?

Maybe Surfin' Bird? (I can still enjoy the Ramones cover)

?You like Huey Lewis and the News? Their early work was a little too New Wave for my taste, but when ?Sports? came out in ?83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically.?

Hip to Be Square. American Psycho?

Pale, that did not ruin the song but made it better! (which for what a great song it is....)

I have to say some of the great surfrock like Pipeline in Pulp Fiction. (Or maybe the over sampling from bands like Black eyed Peas).

Billy Joel 'My Life" as the theme for Bosom Buddies?
