I never knew France won WWII & the Cold War ...wow, that explains a lot. Thanks for sharing Vax.vaxer said:I have the US citizenship because I was born there. But my whole family is French and I only lived four years in the US (Elementry school). And actually I don't remember having a single lesson of geography, so the comparision is impossible.
I don't know if you remember the suburb crisis in France earlier this year, but CNN put a map of "France" on the news that made a lot of people laugh...

None of these cities are in the right place (Not even Paris!!). Not to mention they put "France" in Germany...
Eh, no...that would be Mexico.roundshort said:No, we need them to work for us.
I LOVE THAT SIMPSONS EPISODEViolet Indy said:What can I say?? I'm not a dumb a$$! I'm Australian...
Just kidding, but seriously....
I've got nothing against anyone of any culture, and personally I'm sick of people's stereotypes of Australians being outback dumba$$es chasing kangaroos, going croc hunting and living on the farm!!!! Especially that episode of The Simpsons that simply makes me absolutely furious every time I see it on TV.... In regard to America, well I got nothing against you... same goes for practically every other country... I've studied International Relations under the UN and the only things I can't tolerate is those in breach of Human and CHildren's Rights and governments who turn a blind eye to poverty....
Good post man!Michael24 said:There's always gonna be stereotypes, and there will always (unfortunately) be people who "live up" to them, but that's just the way things go. You can't let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch. I'm proud to be an American and wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
So do I, it is really funny.salussolia said:I LOVE THAT SIMPSONS EPISODE

Michael24 said:Yeah, as if there's no dumb people outside of the US, you know? Every country has dumb people that will only fuel the stereotypes of their country, but like I said you can't let a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch.

Getting back to the topic at hand, however...
I am glad to be American, although I realize that there are a LOT of problems with our country. I'm hoping (along with most of America, I believe) that with the new president comes a better health care system, and more toleration for being within our country and the rest of the world. Americans are often viewed as pompous asses, which I can easily understand. However, I do hope that others (and from what I read here, it seems that they do) that not ALL Americans are like that. The best way to change stereotypes is to prove people wrong, and I hope within the next few years we will see a better foreign policy, better education, better health care, and a more tolerant nation as a whole.
