nope...got to do something to break the fourth wall
He apologizes for the general crappiness of the movie by babbling incoherently in a forgotten Mayan tongue?

...

Just tell us already.

Dunno about Oxley, but I think that Indy's 'Damn, I thought that was closer' when he crashes through the truck windshield at least taps the fourth wall, if doesn't essentially break it, considering the audience is technically the only party "present" to whom he has to explain that mishap.

No, It seems Oxley had a moment where he does this. A senior moment, if you will. I remember that I was a tad bothered by the cinematic awkwardness of it. If my memory serves me right, it's while they're in Akator right before the natives attack the group.

Though a handful come close, only a few characters break the proverbial 4th wall and acknowledge the audience. Which characters go beyond merely gazing into the camera?

Although Pat Roach's German Mechanic looks directly into the camera and
Toht gives us all the high sign as he answers Indy's rhetorical question...
Willie, singing in Cantonese, gives us all a wink and after tripping
the light fantastic, a smile, gestures played to the audience.

While the Pilot who follows Indy and his old man into the tunnel flys and the Interdimentional Creature in Akator leans into the camera...
Mac takes it a bit further and actually points directly at us as he
explains that we pay, a nice little play on words and fun poke at
capitalism being the reason we're all here, cast crew and audience
once again.

John Williams has used unconventional instruments in past compositions such
as an electric guitar in Attack of the Clones. What instrument used in the
movies "War of the Worlds" and "Superman Returns" does he utilize for
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull ?

PVC pipes like the Blue Man Group...

I remember reading the name of the instrument somewhere, can't remember what it's called though.

Let me guess...a theramin, perhaps?

Those "broken 4th wall" items are LAME! They are all point-of-view shots.

And I say, Mr. Condescending, that you're trying a bit too hard, as that's both where Willie's audience and Mac's employers are within the film.

We understand you, we just disagree.

I'll chime in to say that I understand and somewhat agree with the Surgeon.

Willie's audience and Mac's employers are within the film.

True. But it seems to me that Willie's bit was there to include us while Mack's carried a statement within. Whatever.

Next one if you must.

What I said to Stoo was condescending, I thought I was being nice to you...c'est la vie. It's not really that hard...

Nice try go check it out again...if Spalco 12 o'clock high on the dial Mack is pointing across Indy's line of sight...and POSSIBLY at the 2 soldiers at the far right of Indy. But definitely at us.
