Guess when Indiana Jones 5 will be filmed or released.

When do you think Indiana Jones 5 will actually be filmed or released? Since George Lucas doesn't seem to be picking up any speed on the project as we thought and their seems to be no screenplay writers officially on the project (as of September 2011), I don't think we are going to hear any announcements in 2012. Now with Steven Spielberg showing an interest and Harrison Ford showing great support to play Indiana Jones again, maybe Spielberg can hurry Lucas along. Maybe Lucas needs a new typewriter ribbon?

It would be a nice touch if they celebrated Harry's 100th birthday with the announcement that filming of #5 had begun.
When is Harry Jones' birthday, Montana Smith?

Harry Jones? By the look & mannerisms of Indy's great-grandson, Harry, he was born around c.1986-1988 which would make his 100th birthday sometime between c.2086-2088.:p

Approximately 99% of us Ravenheads will be dead by then.:dead:

"Sock puppets and trolls." Nasty.

Yeah, they're a serious pain. You've got to watch them and make sure they don't get out of hand or they'll be a real problem.

Maybe if Indy V does happen, internet forum sock puppets and trolls could be the creepy-crawlies.

As long as we haven't yet heard it's a no go, this is not redundant. But it is only built on hope (which is only two steps away from despair!). As for the sock puppets and trolls, they lurk and pounce when they can given their opportunistic nature. They will have to be endured.

Some back of the napkin production calculations (with some estimates):

Star Wars 7: May 16 2014 - Nov 3 2014
Star Wars 8: Feb 14 2016 - July 22 2016
Star Wars 9: Aug 1 2018 - Feb 14 2019
Rogue One: Aug 8 2015 - Feb 11 2016
Solo: Jan 30 2017 - Oct 17 2017

Lucasfilm principal photography averages 547 - 352 days before wide release. So for the current July 9 2021 release, production should occur January 9 2020 - July 22 2020. Of course Spielberg shoots and edits faster than most and is unlikely to be replaced midstream, so they could start a little later.

That seems about right, though as you imply, history tells us that Spielberg isn't likely to need six months. Since the release date has been pushed back a year, it is reasonable to think that's how long the shoot is to be delayed as well. The original plan was April 2019, so Spring 2020 seems proper. WEST SIDE STORY is shooting at the end of next summer, and Spielberg does tend to make movies in pairs when returning from a hiatus. And anyway, it is really the last chance.

A lot of things have to go right for them to get that chance, too. They have to actually come up with a script after ten full years of reliably failing to do so, Spielberg cannot decide for the umpteenth time to find something that excites him more, and several members of the team have to stay healthy at an age that people die of natural causes at. Ford is the most important player, yes, but we certainly want folks like John Williams and Michael Kahn to be part of the finale.

On a more optimistic note: Scorsese finally got THE IRISHMAN through production despite lots of reckless delays, so we have a precedent of something like this actually happening despite all odds.
