Treasure Hoard of the Lost British Emperor

The Tingler

This is interesting. A man with a metal detector walked into a field and, after receiving a "funny signal" (he means it starting beeping indicating that metal was near, hence the name "metal detector") he dug up what turned out to be a treasure hoard of roman coins from the 3rd Century, including many bearing the likeness of the Lost Emperor of Britain, Marcus Aurelius Carausius.

Carausius was a Roman officer who seized power in the 3rd Century AD in Britain and Northern France and proclaimed himself Emperor. He reigned from 286 until he was assassinated in 293. His empire was separate from the actual Roman Empire, but after his death the Romans came back in and made Britain part of the main empire again.

The treasure hoard itself contained 52,500 coins and is worth 3.3 million pounds ($5 million).

Thank you, that's very interesting.

Not just about the find, but I also didn't know about Carausius.
