Everyone knows the bull**** theory that "Big Bang Theory" came up with, but it's completely false. And here's why.

This is so important that it deserved its own thread.

This is the link to a talk that Spielberg and Lucas had in 1978:
http://maddogmovies.com/almost/scripts/raidersstoryconference1978.pdf

According to this, at page 12:
" [Hitler] thinks that if he gets this Ark, his Armies will be invincible, and he will declare war on the world. [..] But that's why our hero comes in. He's going to do it anyway, but if he gets this Ark there will be no stopping him. So they're doing it semi to prevent the war, which is sort of helpless. They're not really going after the Ark for its supernatural powers. The Army isn't. The Army just wants to keep it away from Hitler. They're afraid if Hitler gets it, he'll just declare war that much faster. "

In other words, hadn't Indiana Jones recovered the Ark, it would have gone straight to Hitler (before the trucks chase the Ark was suppose to fly straight to Berlin), Hitler would have been so sure to win the world that he'd declare war three years earlier, and he would have most likely won World War II.
