Gospel of Judas post-herecy survival

Anyone else find it interesting that the recently restored Gospel of Judas document, a text which was condemned as heresy in 180 A.D. by the infantile proto-orthodox church, was copied as late as 280 A.D. (+- 50 years according to carbon dating)? The most aggressive means used by the church for stamping out "heretical" texts was simply to prohibit them from being copied/translated again.

I consider 100 years an impressive stretch of time for christians holding a heretical text and unorthodox beliefs to survive. I wish there were historical records documenting more about it. Damn.
