It was probably for the best that you didn't approach them. You know how many people do approach them in public, while they are out and about trying to do their thing?

Now, you could argue that they shouldn't be in a public place if they didn't want the attention...blah blah blah...but, c'mon, just let the man and his family enjoy themselves the way you would want to be left alone.

Don't be that fan, you know?

yeah i can see your point. i don't think i what to be that fan, but it was still really cool seeing him. he looks pretty good in person, while calista looked a lot older than she does on tv.

He must like going there during Christmas. I was there Xmas 97 and we was there. I remember a bug crown around him. I think he was going into some building.

Personally I would never approach a celebrity, especially if they're with their family. I've met a bunch of famous people, most by accident or I simple didn't know who they were and the person I was with told me. The only celebrity I've ever approached was Tom Jane, and that's because he was just waiting around in a hotel lobby and, frankly, looked bored. He was a cool guy about it too.

I would never approach Ford. EVER. It would be cool enough for me just to see him.

I'd definitely go up to him and say something. Heck, it's my only chance ever to probably do so. I wouldn't ask for his autograph. I'd just want to shake his hand.

I met Harrison Ford five years ago at the National Aviation Hall of Fame's 2003 Pioneers of Flight event at the Dayton Convention Center. It was a black tie dinner event that included most of the big names in aviation. I asked Neil Armstrong to introduce us. Which, looking back, was kind of ridiculous. Mr. Armstrong is a friend of my father's and he lives down the street from us (in Cincinnati). We were standing a few feet away from Ford and he was gracious enough to do so. It seemed as though they definitely had met a few times before that. After they talked for a bit, he subtly waved me over and introduced me as a big fan of "us flyboys".

I talked to him briefly and he couldn't have been nicer. It was kind of funny - At one point, I told him to be careful "up there" (referring to the sky) He was like, "Yeah, I think I'll be ok" pointing to the 4 man police escort behind him. I was confused, at first - but it dawned on me that he had thought that I was referring to the reception that followed "up there" on the second level of the convention center. It was kind of a funny exchange. Something I'll never forget.

Because of the noise of the crowd, he had to raise his voice a bit - sounding exactly like he did in many of his scenes as Solo or Indy. Looked more like an older Solo with the longer combed back hair.

I was also surprised that he and I were the same height. I always thought he was a little taller.

It was truly a hell of a night - Ford was the MC. He did a fantastic job and you could tell even he was star struck with some of the other names in the room. These are the guys that they'll still be talking about a hundred years from now. And you could tell that he had nothing but the utmost respect for them. It was truly like the Oscars of aviation.
Here's a press release and an article about the event....

Meeting Harrison Ford

I know there's a thread already about "meeting Harrison ford" but i didn't know what else to name it, anyway Ford is my favorite actor and i would love to meet him but im kinda conflicted about it, see ive met just about every other actor i admire (met and shook hands with Daniel Craig, talked with Bruce Willis, saw Arnold) but i never met met Ford, as much as i would love to, i kinda see the pointlessness in "meeting/seeing favorite celebrity" after seeing the other actors i admired above,im just wondering what other Indy fans have met him/how or why its important to you.

I merged your thread with this prior one (nothing wrong with reviving an old discussion, after all!), but I do think you're foregrounding something interesting here.

Anyone wish they hadn't met him, if they have? Or, in a more general sense, anyone thought about the appeal of potentially meeting any of the folks involved in the series - Harrison in particular - but came to the conclusion that maybe you're better off without the demystification?

My partner met Harrison and Steven while she was holidaying in Kandi while ToD was being filmed. She said hello to them but didn't bother them with any drooling or autograph requests. But they were all in the hotel pool together, mind you!

I'd also be inclined to leave them be. I admire the on-screen presence, or what they're doing behind the scenes to make it happen; but not too fussed with their private life. I self-consciously hate the idea of being of autograph hunting and other fan-boy/celebrity activities. (The magazine shelves in newsagents here are full of exposé stories on the lives of the rich and famous, and even the micro D-listers from reality shows become heroes attracting pages of text and glossy pictures).

Harrison never looks like a guy to seek publicity or adoration. He gets on and does what he's good at. He might appreciate the privacy.

Two of the Greatest days of my life.

In 2008 I bought an Indiana Jones Fedora off ebay so that I could wear it when I went to see Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, along with the KOTCS T-Shirt I bought from Lucasfilm along with a TOD Offical Pix.

I remember that day very well when we first see Indy the whole of the audience whooped and cheered and that was when I put my fedora on as Indy reached down to put his on :) I wore it a week later when I saw Indy for the second time and also wore it when I went to buy the dvd when it was released and during that time period and for two years afterwards or so the Fedora just sat on my bureau collecting dust and looking rather nice.

In 2010 I started doing one or two Premieres meeting a few famous people here and there and so got used to the whole waiting around thing glad to have met the likes of Angelina, Sylvester etc.

Then on a particularily cold day in January 2011 I went up to London (only an hours train journey away) met up with some Friends and started waiting at the Premiere for Morning Glory, I had my Fedora with me plus my Indy Boxset not sure what to try my luck with - I briefly met Lisa (Supermodel/brief love interest with George Clooney) and she said "I love your hat." so the Fedora was endorsed by Lisa *Blushes*

Later on in the day after a cup of hot chocolate to stop me freezing my unmentionables off and plenty of waiting Harrison Ford turned up (all kinds of thoughts were going through my head - will he stop signing before he reaches us? Will he only sign a few? Will he sign at all?) he started signing and went down the line, as he made his way down I got more and more excited (on the video on my youtube you can mostly hear me saying "Oh my God. Oh my God." I kept thinking "This is Indiana Jones, this is Han Solo!!!" as he approached me I held out the Indiana Jones Fedora and as he signed it I almost felt like it was some kind of rite of passage.

After this momentous moment in my life rather than put the Fedora safely in my bag I put it on my head, Harrison had signed for a few other people and when he walked up the carpet again I asked him:

"Harrison, can I shake your hand please sir?"

ANd thank goodness he obliged:

For several days afterwards I still kept feeling a mixture of excitement/sickness due to excitement and just couldnt get over it.

And so that was January the month I met Harrison Ford and thought to myself how I'm glad I opted for the Fedora and thought (then) that there is NO WAY that could ever be bettered.....................

In August two things happened one the announcement that there would be a Premiere for Cowboys and Aliens and that Harrison Ford would be ONCE AGAIN coming over to England (rumour has it it was due to the fact he was good Friends with Daniel Craig but thats only a rumour) and was also the week several towns in Britain were blighted with rioting and looting - with all this going on there was possibly the ominous threat that those in charge wouldnt want to risk putting Harrison, Jon Favreau, Daniel Craig and Olivia Wilde in danger and so quite possibly the Premiere would be cancelled - I just remember thinking to myself:

"If these *Insert appropriate naughty word here* ruin my chances of meeting Harrison Ford again I wont be too happy."

As time went on Britain was becoming civil again and it was on the Thursday I went up with my Friends to the Premiere, my Friend actually had to help and lower my excitement level by saying "Oh, its just another actor." knowing full well that I was vgetting over excited at the prospect of meeting Harrison again and that whole day (like weeks before hand) I kept thinking to myself "Do I ask Harrison to sign my Indy DVD boxset or do I have him Sign my Official Pix TOD pic?" that was of course if he would even sign...

He turned up signed the whole line.... Came to me I held out the official pix and had my Indy DVD boxset on top of it and expected him to either sign one or the other and even now I remember facing Harrison again and he signed the picture first and then the DVD boxset.

Words cant even begin to expresss what that moment ws like.

To be continued
