Indy was still working for the OSS as of the Summer of 1943, according to the Army of the Dead book.

His OSS service in my opinion probably dates from 1942-early 1947. He could've spent 1942-1945 spying on the Germans and Japanese (Indy mentions missions in the Pacific), and 1945-1947 (just prior to the OSS becoming the CIA) spying on the Soviets. I don't think he was with the OSS any later than the beginning of 1947, and he couldn't have been with the OSS any earlier than 1942 since the OSS didn't exist until 1942.
Of course, he wasn't working for them constantly between '42 and '47; He probably was called on and off on assignment. He says he and Mac did ''20, 30 missions together.'' I'm sure if 20-30 missions is possible between 1942 and 1947. He also was awarded medals, apparently a lot, and reached the rank of Colonel, so I'd say 5 years probably fits. The OSS might've known of his service during WWI which might've helped him reach the rank of Colonel faster.

In those days (1920's and before), colleges were not as sticky about
high school graduations, SAT tests, and other modern hoops that
college applicants have to jump through.

And, of course, Indy was "home schooled" by his father, and his
knowledge of topics would have shown up in entrance interviews.

According to the manual for Infernal Machine, which is set in 1947, Indy had no further ties to the OSS or CIA the post war period. Infact, the first level of the game has him in Utah, on a dig for Barnett College. While there, Indy gets visited by Sophia Hapgood, who's an officer for the CIA. Even the dialogue states that he's been out the loop for a while.

Also not to forget maybe these small details:

1922 Indy goes on an expedition with his classmate Magnus Völler and his professor Charles Kingston to excavate and explore some Maya temple in Panama. (source: Staff of Kings computer game)
1929 The Marshall College financed the Jastro-Expedition to Iceland and Indy got his first real job leading an excavation. He also met there Sophia Hapgood for the first time in the "coldest year of his life". (source: Fate of Atlantis computer game)
