I'm saying it's 'lame' not because it's a terrible set, but that there's really nothing special about it. It's a little hard to get the Ugha warriors, true, and the exact jeep from Brickmaster - but neither are impossible and both will be easier than getting the SDCC set. And, of course, the 'scene' pieces are ALL from other sets anyway.
You're right about the Indy Minifig. This would have been an EXCELLENT chance to show 'Indy II' , in a Temple of Doom or other style, to break up the line a little.
I heard from the fellow who is trying to get the Indy set for me, and he said Lego is doing a raffle to see who gets the sets. Geez, you would think they just could have made more.

See, I think of the set on its own terms, relative only to what's included with other sets, but not to the availability of any one set. If this weren't a limited-edition rarity but instead were available everywhere, it'd be a fine little set, offering "Ugha army-building" opportunity as well as decorative element inventory-building that not all the other sets offer. I do think the Ugha warriors are enough to make it somewhat "special," albeit not uniquely so - but then, since we are forced to deal with its scarcity, it's frankly just as well that it doesn't contain any unique essentials.
And at any rate, I also think it's more desirable than just a pile of clear or gold bricks to put together into a small Crystal Skull or Ark of the Covenant, which is what it was widely guessed to be.

As a KotCS set, a jacketed Indy is pretty much required, unless you just mean the whole set should've been something different. If that were the case, though, I still wouldn't want it to have anything unique - it'd be pretty damn frustrating if there were official LEGO minifigs for jacketless, one-sleeved Indy, Mola Ram, etc., but only 500 copies in existence of each. Instead, we get a set that's desirable on its own terms, but that can be completely made up for with combinations of other sets and elements if one can't get it. I think that's probably the best balance for this limited-edition set to have achieved. I'd really hate for tens or hundreds of thousands of LEGO Indy fans to all be competing on eBay for the same five hundred Short Round or Sallah minifigs.
(Actually, one alternative would've been for this to be a set with unique elements now, but which would eventually become available in later sets. That might be more desirable, but I'm not sure...)

Yeah, but that'd be true with any limited edition number they came up with, unless it were so high that it no longer had any meaning as a limited edition.
A raffle? So rather than selling the sets directly, they're selling chances to win one? Yikes. I don't know whether either of the people I asked would be willing to buy tickets for a chance at winning one unless I told them in advance I'd pay for tickets, and I don't think I have a way to get in touch with them during the convention (not that I'm a big fan of raffles and lotteries anyway, but if it's the only way to get one of these sets, I'd probably be willing to spend a few dollars on the endeavor). How much are the tickets?

It fits more with the existing sets of course. Granted, if that were the case, I would have preferred something a little more fan-wanky.. like, say, Sallah and Indy in the map room or something.

That's what I meant. This could be the 'launch' set for some updated pieces. Like introducing the TOD Indy, or maybe 'White Suit' Belloq, or something, which would come out in a couple of months in the regular sets.
Well, that would be neat, of course; it'd also mean these sets would see insane action on eBay...
(Actually, now that I think about it, a pile of gold bricks to make a small Ark wouldn't be bad at all - aside from it being nice to have a little LEGO Ark, gold bricks aren't terribly plentiful, and it'd be great purely as a parts pack. Clear ones are much more common, though.)

I do hope I'll get one of these, but of course, who knows? I'm really curious about how that raffle is supposed to work. I'd also heard something about this possibly being given out to people who sign up at SDCC for Brickmaster memberships, in which case I don't know how I'd get one - I don't think either of the people I asked would know whether or not to sign me up for a membership, thinking I might not want to go that way "just" for this set (that'd actually be totally fine with me, but I don't have any way to tell them that until after they get back), and anyway I'm already a Brickmaster member (would it be possible for existing members to get this by renewing? I wonder...).
At the moment I have saw from bricklink.com this is other Indiana Jones Lego "Jungle Cruiser" single Indy with Car...

It's English, Jim, but not as we know it...
If I understand you correctly, you've... just now noticed set # 20004, is that it? I talked a little about this set a couple pages ago:

Indy's Jungle Cruiser came out this month; it was sent to Brickmaster members a bit over three weeks ago (a couple people have previously mentioned in this thread that they've received it; I'm one of them myself).
The San Diego Comic-Con exclusive set is a larger set that includes the Jungle Cruiser, along with some other elements.

... aaaannd yesterday, a few weeks after posting the above, I received the next Brickmaster set (a Bionicle set). I think it's safe to say the window of availability for getting the Brickmaster-exclusive Indy set via a BM membership has officially closed - I hope all joint fans here of Indy and LEGO joined in time!
That said, as I noted in the 2009 Indy LEGO thread, it appears to me we may get another Brickmaster-exclusive Indiana Jones set next year. We'll see...
Man, that Target link's really something, huh? The set's still months away (though presumably not that many - actually, if it's officially set for January, then it'll probably start appearing on store shelves here and there beginning in December, judging from past experiences with "January" LEGO releases).
Yes, this is great news! I can't wait for the TOD set! I am starting to think about creating a custom Ford Trimotor next. I have done the Flying Wing, and the Last Crusade Tank..... I figure the Trimotor has to be next!

Thanks....each model took weeks to design and build! But who knows if we'll ever see an official release on the tank! I have seen "mock ups" for the wing...but I hope the model is only a prototype....I actually like mine better!

Those are really awesome! From those pictures it looks like you made pdf instructions to go along with them. Any chance of posting a link to those? I'd love to take a crack at these myself!

Eventually I'll get around to these myself, but for now I'm still focusing on just getting all the official sets (I still haven't gotten one of everything currently available yet, nor have I gotten duplicates of any of them, though I do have two copies of Peril in Peru on order).
I've only picked up two of the lego sets (two of the cheapest--Well of Souls and Indy and Henry bike chase) but every time I am at the stores lately, I find myself drooling over the larger ones. Unfortunately, I'm pinching pennies enough as it is (grad student and all) and just don't think I can afford them at the rather outrageous prices Legos go for nowadays. Man, I used to have massive sets as a kid, and I don't ever remember them costing this much (of course, I wasn't actually PAYING for them when I was a kid, so maybe I just didn't notice.) I may just have to bite the bullet and pick one up and never look back.
Anyone have any recommendations as to which Lego set is the best value for the money? Like I said, I've already got the Well of the Souls and Bike chase sets, but I want to pick up one of the bigger ones and feel at least a little less like I'm being utterly ripped off than I would otherwise. So what's the verdict--which ones are most worth the price?

The sets are all really great, IMO. You might also want to pick up the $10 Jungle Duel set with Mutt, Indy, and Spalko. I'm personally a big fan of the River Chase set with the duck, Marion, Indy, and two Commies. So if I could only pick one, I'd go with the River Chase. I'd say the least interesting one is the Jungle Cutter, but it's still a nice build.
