Indiana Jones Action Figures Wave 1 Description:
"Throw me the idol, I'll throw you the whip!" Indiana Jones' adventures have covered the whole world and involved dozens of mysterious artifacts more valuable than life itself, and now Hasbro celebrates this movie series with Action Figures! Each figure includes a special bonus "artifact" relic right from the movies. Collect them all!
Wave 1 features 12 individually packaged Action Figures, including: 1x TBD (Mystery Figure #2), 1x Marion Ravenwood with Staff of Ra Headpiece, 2x Indiana Jones (Cairo) with Grail Tablet, 2x TBD (Mystery Figure #1), 2x Cairo Swordsman with Statue, 1x Belloq with Golden Fertility Idol, 2x TBD (Mystery Figure #3), 1x Monkey Man with Monkey and the Remains of Nurhachi. (Subject to change.)
Three "Mystery figures" eh? We know about the Indy with jacket and the German Soldier...is the third Sallah perhaps? He is the only other figure we have seen right? It would appear from this that the artifacts aren't randomly packed like they did with the Star Wars holo figures. If you follow the link to EE there is a semi-new pic of Cairo Indy, the others I beilieve we have already seen.

I agree Edward, these are really bad combos! I guess it's a marketing ploy, so that people who want certain accessories will have to buy less desirable figures. You would think they would keep the bonus pieces with the matching figures, ie. a grail tablet with a LC Indy in adventure gear or prof. outfit, or the remains of Nurhachi with a ToD Indy in his white tux.
Who the hell designs these toys anyways? They ought to hold an open forum for fans suggestions, or even better hire a diehard collector to design the lines !
The full first assortment was already pictured in Lee's Toy Review magazine. I agree the mystery figures would have to be Indy with jacket and the German Soilder. You can see the scan in this thread http://raven.theraider.net/showthread.php?t=11763
The addition of a third mystery figure is interesting and Sallah does make sense.

I believe that the "artifacts" are meant as bonus pieces more than anything else. Hasbro has a track record of this in the Star Wars line with the miniature hologram figures and other like items that are "added value". I really don't believe that they are meant to be accessories to the figures themselves, especailly since they aren't even really in scale with them for the most part. Check out this pic from Comic Con The fertility idol with Belloq is huge compared to the figure and we already know that the Indy with jacket comes with an idol that is to scale. Originally it was speculated that these artifacts would be randomly packed (another common Hasbro tactic), but it sounds like they might not now. I agree that it would make sense to pack these with a character that they actually kind of matched though.
I think the extra pieces might be accessories to the 12 inc indy. notice how big the accessories are compared to the 4 inch. what ya think. maybe thats why they are packaged weird. so if you want the 12 inch accessories you have to buy all the figures. seems smart to me!!

nice catch!!! And that does seem about right. Well, it doesn't matter cause I'm buying them all, lol
I didn't mean to say the bonus pieces were accesories for the smaller scale figures, that was a typo. Yeah, they would be ridiculously large in scale, lol!
GARTHV8ER, good idea regarding the bonus pieces being an accessory for the 12'' Indy! That could very well be the secret marketing ploy.
But, then again Billy Ray makes a good point as well, about Hasbro throwing bonus pieces in with the Star Wars lines.
The grail tablet looks rather small compared with the other artifacts. That is a great observation, since Hasbro is producing a 12 inch Indy figure. Never thought of that! The artifacts appear to be randomly packed and not really match the character, but that is exactly what Hasbro seems to do at times. Over the course of 2007, Hasbro's Star Wars basic carded figures were packed with a bonus coin that matched the character. A coin is exactly what I thought would match the Indiana Jones motif.
I already have 2 cases of Indy 3 3/4 figures pre-ordered through Entertainment Earth.
Has it still ever been discussed why they are waiting until MAy to release the first wave of figures that contain characters from "Raiders of the Lost Ark". Will they have 2 Indy figure lines going at once in the month of May or will we more or less have to wait until the DVD release of KOTCS to get figures from that actually movie.
I still think Hasbro really dropped the ball by not offering these as "sneak preview" figures in the early months of 2008.

Yes. It's posted in the Hasbro Question and Answer Thread.
In speaking to Hasbro I received a VERY clear answer to this debate -
"We will be releasing both "classic" and IJ IV figures at the same time, together, as one line when the line debuts. There is no separate movie line, and there is no separate classic Indy figure launch. After discussion with Lucasfilm and with retailers, we decided it was for our boys action aisle space that it was best to launch everything together."
For 2008, fans of Indiana Jones can expect Hasbro to have their backs. At the current time, we can tell you that they have broken down virtually on the product lines in this franchise into two waves. The first waves will, where applicable, focus on the debut film Raiders Of The Lost Ark and the second waves will be based on the characters from the upcoming film, The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull. After that time we’ll see products based on the other Indy stories as well.
Expect to see the first two waves of the following in February at Toy Fair:
3 3/4” Basic Figure Assortment
Series 1: ROTLA
Series 2: TKOTCS
3 ¾” Deluxe Figure Assortment
Series 1: ROTLA
Series 2: TKOTCS
3 ¾” Vehicle Assortment
Series 1: ROTLA
Series 2: TKOTCS
Adventure Set
Series 1: ROTLA
Series 2: TKOTCS
Adventure Heroes Assortment
Series 1: ROTLA
Series 2: TKOTCS
12” Action figure Assortment
Series 1: ROTLA
Series 2: TKOTCS
Titanium Series
Series 1: ROTLA
Series 2: TKOTCS
Beyond that, collectors can expect to see Indiana Jones Mighty Muggs, Die Cast Playsets, and of course, no modern day Hasbro collection is complete without our starchy friend, Taders Of The Lost Ark.
Strange that they are just concentrating on Raiders for the retrospective stuff. I assumed they'd do a mixture of the first three pictures.
Well,Keep in mind that this is just the first two series.BUt yeah,I'm ITCHING for Mola Ram and Henry Sr. figures,So I hope the other two series come quick!
As time passes and we get closer to May, I get a little worried that there is not even a rumor about figure from TOD. LC has the more action figure and vehicle potential, but I want to see TOD get it long-overdue and well-deserved focus in plastic.
Did anyone notice that Entertainment Earth no longer has the case assortments for the Indy figures available?
RotLA only? That's dumb! We've already got two lines devoted to that movie, three figures from ToD, and nothing from LC! I thought it'd be a mix of all 4 movies in the first wave. Didn't they say there'd be 30 figures? What happened to that? I guess it's better they release the series in smaller numbers, because when you have a line that big, you're just gonna have peg warmers and the next waves won't see the light of day.

30 figures throughout the year,Most likely.Keep in mind it just says series 1 and 2.
I wouldnt be too worried about TOD or LC, they'll get made. I mean if Hasbro can make a Cloud City guard or characters like Admiral Motti and General Tagge, they pretty much have to make Henry Sr. or Mola Ram. I mean you can't produce things like Elis Helrot and Lav Sivrak and not have people expect the same for Indy.

Yeah, I was confused. The SW lines seemed to offer a lot more figures in their first waves, but I think this approach is better. I hope series 3 and 4 are ToD and LC before being more KotCS.
Well, they did say "Expect to see the first two waves of the following in February at Toy Fair" and "After that time we’ll see products based on the other Indy stories as well." in the 411 report. To me, that implies that we are just seeing the first two waves (ROTLA and KOTCS) at Toy Fair in Feb, but more waves are coming based on the other two movies. Hasbro never shows a whole year's worth of a line at Toy Fair.
Also, was kind of thinking about the line "other Indy stories as well". If Hasbro wanted to stretch things, I wonder if they would do figures from the Young Indy series too?

Apparently Entertainment Earth removed their pre-order page for wave 1 of the Indy figures. One of the forum members at Rebelscum, "Tilltheend" ahd this to report:
Quote:
I called EE this morning and they told me that they were asked to remove the preorder from their site. I ionquired a little further and found out that the release date was tentively set for April but they could be coming sooner than that
Not sure how reliable this info is, don't know the guy, but I have no reason to doubt him either. The preorder link for the Hasbro stuff is gone though. Interesting if it is true that they will be coming sooner. Man, all my extra $$ for my deployment is going to be cancelled out because it will probably all be spent on Indy stuff this year
